Great stuff. Also think Crabtree might be a little underrated at this point, Demetrius Bell seems like a FA bust at this point

yup. And those of you who wanted to trade down and grab Cordy Glenn can gloat too. Imagine if we picked him up. Sew up both starting tackle spots with rookies, neither of which were taken in the 1st round. And if Kelemete progresses as expected, 3 of our 5 OL starters would have all been from this year's draft. Colledge and Sendlein, although bashed plenty here, I think are plenty good. It would be hard to decide on positions to address next year if Kolb keeps playing the way he is

had to take a break before even continuing the rest of the list to share this piece of mind-blowing info. He's right though. He's done surprisingly well

At least he is getting kudos somewhere, cause he is not on this board for the most part.

Not only should he get credit, he should get a new contract. You do not let people who can play LT walk in the NFL. I don't care how many OT's you think you have.

lol, yeah, tough crowd in here. I guess consistently losing makes people bitter. I agree though, he may have been around for a while, cut by a handful of teams, but he's been doing a great job filling in at a position he doesn't even play. Hell, Kolb's been healthy for 3 weeks now, gotta be some kind of record :p

Odd though isn't it that the Cards change LTs and nothing seems to really change with the offensive line. Davis to Gandy to Brown to Bridges to Brown to Batiste.

Then I look at the turnover at the Guard position and I wonder if any of the conventional wisdom regarding offensive line play applies to the Cardinals.

Our O-line can be upgraded at any position. Of course, there are some spots that need it more than others, but we don't exactly have a 'great' o-line. Massie is going to be good at RT, and Colledge and Sendlein are pretty cemented at their position. Now, if only Potter can step up and be a good LT then I think our 2012 draft was a success already.

Batiste is doing better than most of us thought. Sure he's not that good, but he's doing his job well enough to be called, "decent" so far. He'll make a great backup for future years of this team, if Potter can't beat him out. When Levi comes back, put him at RG.... Please. He can still be a back up LT where you switch him during a game if the starter gets hurt, but you wanna put your players in the best place to succeed, which is the right guard spot for levi.

lol, not really. Conventional wisdom didn't apply in general to the Cards until recently though

Maybe.... but, there isn't one snap to help prove this hypothesis.

I am as bitter as they come, and I still see that that guy is doing well.

Guys bounce around the league all the time and then find a place that clicks, ala Paris Lenon. The guy can play, and we have to keep him here in AZ.

True.

Same could have been said about Antrel Rolle before he went to safety, or when Calvin Pace was moved to OLB.

But true, it ain't what it is, till it is what it is. :D

true. But I'd be willing to give him a shot to beat Kelemete to replace Snyder next year if he doesn't improve

Kelemete's at 300lb, with quick feet and experience on the left side makes him a more likely candidate as the left guard of the future.

+1.

If Levi were to be tried anywhere it would be at RG.

Our LG has to be that classic Brian Waters, highly athletic guard that can pull and move around.

Kelemete has that ability, but he is too light, too weak, and his pass protection needs work. Good thing he is a rookie.

PFF has Batiste rated horribly so far.

https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2012/09/28/3tfo-dolphins-cardinals-week-4/

I think he's been solid though..

Ah, PFF.

Making points with stats that they made up, and you have to pay to see. Sucks. Cause if I could compare the damning numbers to other offensive lines, then I could be concerned or not concerned.

I appreciate the post, BTW, this isn't a knock on the poster, N2A. Just hate that there is just this arbitrary number that you can't really use to compare anyone with.

For example

D'Anthony Batiste (

) is obviously not doing well,

and Bobby Massie (

) well the numbers speak for themselves.

I mean just look at the numbers.

odd. I didn't think he's allowed so much pressure. We've only given up like 6 or so sacks this year right? I believe Kolb has been sacked 4 times nad Skelton 2?
The QB has been sacked 6 times. 5 for Kolb and 1 for Skelton. Also they have only been hit 16 times through 3 games.

my bad. I could have sworn Kolb was 1 vs NE and 3 vs Philly. Lucky I was off one on Skelton and got the total right. That's only 1 less than we sacked Vick in just the one game. Love it :D

Yeah I thought he was sacked once vs. NE as well, but I guess they determined that one of the other plays was a sack. Kinda how they gave a sack to Acho and took 1 away from DWash earlier this week.

The guy hasn't been great, not even good. There's been some shaky moments for sure. Especially against Chandler Jones.

But that said, from what we were seeing in the preseason, and from what we probably expected, he's doing a lot better than I thought. He hasn't yet been a problem killing our team.

I think while he's getting beat it's not always as quickly as it had been and Kolb has been doing a better job of getting the ball out and/or feeling the pressure. That plus our shorter reads help too. Combine all that up with his slightly improved play I think overall has made the position serviceable so far.

Still early, not sold. But the guy has done just well enough, which if he continues like he has for the rest of the season, should make us ecstatic.

If anyone should be on that list Massie should be. While being at the less tested RT position, he's done remarkably well.

Overall I'd say our tackles are exceeding my expectations.
