Whom would YOU wish the title if the Suns wouldn't win?

Inspired by the questioning at the All Star game, I wanted to see whom you would wish the title, if the Suns (or Lakers, Spurs, Hawks - do we have other fans on this board?) couldn't win it.

Are you like Kobe and simple "don't care" if your team wouldn't have a shot, would you simple hope for certain teams NOT to win, or are there any teams you like?

For me, I'll always have a soft spot for the Hornets. They mid- 90s (Charlotte) Hornets were one of my favourite non- Suns teams ever.
Muggsy Bogues was just such a likeable underdog. You had the combination of athletic offensive force Larry Johnson and Alonzo Mourning - two guys that were pure energy.
Hersey Hawkins, Dell Curry among other role-players were likeable as well.

As a kid growing up outside the USA with limited access to NBA on tv and no internet (3 games per week and a weekend show back then) I couldn't follow one team as I can for the last decade or so.
Therefore I probably was attracted to playing style, likeability of players as well as - as strange as it reads - logo and uniform look.
As a kid how could you not love the Hornet.
I have two brothers and we always were Muggsy, LJ und Zo. My youngest brother still has his Muggsy jersey, while I simple painted a white shirt with no 33. ;)

Anyway, if you ever really like a team and follow it for some time, you will grow attached to it a bit.

So if the Suns should not win it this year, I'll wish Chris Paul and company the best. It helps a lot, that they have some nice guys on the team as well (except for Chandler maybe).

The other team would be the Chicago Bulls for my wife's and best mate's sake. Two die-hard Bulls fans through good and bad.

But hey: The Suns ARE going to win it!

And on a side note you'll read many more times, if people will post in this thread: There are two teams I don't want to win it and it's not too hard to guess which those would be...

bobcats, it would be such a fluke. I don't want to see any other losers win.

I'd like to see CP3 win a championship, love that guy. He represents the team player concept like magic and nash as a pure point. I always pulled for magic when my sixers werent in it, CP3 is the same kind of unselfish stud. I prefer team players like Nash, Paul and Tim Duncan(though I dont like the other "cheap shot and flopobili spurs", not at all).

Yep, I'd say the Hornets too.

Anybody but the Lakers, Celtics, Spurs or Mavs. I like it when either the smaller market teams or teams that have not won..win.

In terms of the Mavs, I just hate those trolls and wish it will on them every chance I get. :D

The Lakers

Thought I'd see at least one of these when I read the thread.

As for who I'd want to win I could care less as long as its not the spurs. Btw, if its not the suns I'm almost hoping for an early exit so I don't have to go through another semester of finals watching the late night west games on the east coast.

Pretty much.

The Celtics. Please God no. Please no.

I like the Nooch, but I don't want to see them winning a title. I think Chris Paul is a stud. Gun to my head the only Non-Laker team I'd say I'd be happy to see win is Orlando because I heart the hell out of Dwight Howard.

The Lakers
Oh, nevermind him. The smarter Lakers fans have already said that they would gladly bandwagon for us if it came down to the Suns or the Spurs. That's the way I feel too: If it came down to L.A. versus San Antonio, I would have my Kobe jersey Fed-Ex'ed the next day. You'd see me gladly debating the merits of Turiaf over Kurt Thomas and what-not. :D

But I guess if the Suns, Rockets, and (to that very limited extent, the) Lakers get knocked out, I'd probably root for the Celtics--ONLY because I want to see KG get a ring before he retires. And just the one ring, too. None of this back-to-back nonsense. :)

Oh my.

Who is this KG? Some new player? Is he good? Sounds like Kevin Garnett, but that dude died in the offseason...sad, really.

If it were Suns and Spurs, and the Celts looked like they'd be in the Finals, I'd cheer for the Suns to beat the Spurs and then sweep the Celtics.

Yep, I said it.

That was a nod to you, Donald. ;) And I edited the post to somewhat qualify my Lakers bandwagonism. Such is my hatred of San Antonio!

Although it would never happen, I'd hate to see the Hawks win it. Their trolls might be the worst. Which makes me wonder where they have gone since that Bibby trade.

Here are the teams I DON'T want to see win in order:

1. Celtics
2. Spurs
3. Pistons

After that, I don't really care. If I had to pick a team I would want, it would probably be the Cavs, because I love to watch LeBron play. I like Orlando as well.

If Phoenix won I'd be happy for their fans, and it would be great for Nash. I would have conflicted feelings about Shaq winning again. Not so much for him, because Shaq will always have a place in my heart, but I wouldn't want to hear it from the media about how great Shaq is and how Kobe is overrated. There was more than enough of that after the Heat were given the rings a couple years ago.

Yeah, I'd throw the pistons in there too for the Hell no camp.

I don't mention the Spurs because if they are in it, I don't care and won't watch, just like every year they are in it.

Thank goodness Penny isn't playing anywhere right now. Whomever he plays for, they have the worst trolls.

I kind of wonder how somebody could legitimately be a Penny Hardaway fan in this day and age. I'm plenty old to remember pre-injury Penny, and he just wasn't that great. My guess is that those trolls are just teenagers who were vaguely amused by the Chris Rock / Penny Hardaway commercials back when their age was in the single digits.

True enough. Though you KNOW what I heard in my head when I bumped into Tyra Banks at the mini-mart a few years ago.
