Here we Card fans are again. Waiting. Like all football fans we're ready for the season to start. However, Card fans are different. We all know we cheer for a team that has consistently sucked it up for...ever. But, we're still here. I sit back and read, listen, and watch how the Cards are going to suck...again. You know what? I don't give a GD.
I read Harry's article today and I have to admit, he has some pretty astute observations. Yet, the thing that he nor any other nay sayer can account for is the intagibles. Did anyone see what the Bears accomplished two seasons ago? I was at Soldier Field the day they played the Cards. I believe the score ended up 14 to 7 or something along those lines. My point? The Cards played the Bears straight up that day, and if were not for Pittman fumbling that ball when they were headed for a score the outcome would have been different. Guess what? That's football. We all know that. But that's how the damn Bears whole season went. Have you ever seen so many tipped passes that ended up returned for touchdowns? Jesus. They ended up 13-3, that I do know. Did anybody predict that? Did anyone predict their miserable season last year?
What I'm getting at is the ball CAN bounce the right way. And it CAN happen week in and week out. Do the Cards need it to happen to win 12 games? Uh, hell yes. But it is possible. That's why I can not wait for freakin' Sunday to get here.
Take all of the young spirit we have on this team and couple it with the vets who've been exposed to winning...and who the hell knows? Harry? SI? ESPN? They give educated guesses (sometimes uneducated). You know who I'm going to listen to? The same guy who predicted the Rams to win the Super Bowl with a guy named Kurt Warner. The same guy who saw the Pat's come out of the blue and win the Bowl. The same guy who predicted the Cards to beat Dallas in the playoffs a little while back. You know who THAT guy is, his name is Jack ****. That's right, no one predicted these things to happen.
The Cards stay healthy, a couple balls bounce the right way and who knows?
The only damn thing I know is I'm about to spend way too much money on a big screen tv so I can cheer for the Cards this Sunday. I'm the same guy who dropped 2K on season tickets. I'm also the same guy who reads time and time again that the Cards are going to suck...again. And, I say, up yours!
The regular season is here. The score at the end of the day will determine the Cards record, not some copycat writer somewhere. I'll end my rambling here with this final thougt; no matter what off season we have, what so called "expert" on football would ever predict the Cards making it to the playoffs? As you all know so well the answer is NONE. So, does this mean that we'll never make it back? Not only do we not need a "prediction" of the Cards making it to the playoffs for us to get there; I'd rather not have one. That way when we do go I can look around with the other true fans and I know that we were here when they told us we shouldn't be.
God I can't wait till Sunday. Go Cards.
