We don't know how to act after getting to a Super Bowl, so we fall back on "WTF is the front office doing???" type posts.

What they are doing is modeling themselves after the Steelers. We aren't going to make a "splash" in free agency. We aren't going to overpay old players. We are going to develop our offensive and defensive fronts and a running game. We aren't going to jump around like crazy just because FA started and an aging but good QB wants more than he's worth even though he has zero leverage.

But... we let JJ go... our running game is screwed!

Give this man a cigar!!

Kurt killed his leverage when he was caught drooling over the prospect of coming back to AZ and not wanting to uproot his family again.

Well apparently Kurt does have a little leverage and apparently the 9ers are helping him to provide it.

That being said, we made him a very substantial offer. I can't ask them (FO) to do any more.

Obviously IF the 9ers are serious, then they can vastly overcompensate Kurt to throw to who? Protected by who?

We don't know that. If he goes there, I'll be cheering for Leinart to play well for us. This is the NFL in 2009. Players change teams for money. Fact of life.

im sure most of us will agree that if kurt goes to san fran he will not be able to put up the numbers he did with us. he doesn't have even close to the same offensive cast he had here

I think Kurt should be more worried about his body getting cut in 1/3 than his stats.

It's not like the Niners were as bad as the Lions or Rams. They ripped our hearts out in 07 and played us very tough in both games last year. The idea that Warner would be completely helpless there isn't based on any logic that I can see.

I'm mad because I somehow feel we are being hostaged by this deal and not able to sign anyone until this is resolved. Basically saying that Graves is not multi tasker...One deal at a time...

Sacks allowed by SF = 55 in a primarily running offense

Sacks allowed by AZ = 28 in a primarily passing offense

Logic enough for me

Warner alone would take 15 to 20 sacks off that SF total with how fast he gets rid of the ball.

A run oriented team with no WR talent and a porous offensive line, in a system that Warner doesn't know, in an open air stadium that gets windy and chilly. He has a hard time facilitating a running game, isn't quick off the snap and slow on handoffs, likes to run the shotgun and fling it as much as possible. No Larry there. No Q.

The logic is all over the place.

Go to SF, Kurt. It would be a poor end to your career. Or simply sign the damn deal now.

Thats a big "if". Their current core of receivers don't have the separation skills that ours have, thus Kurt would be throwing into coverage, throwing the ball away or holding onto the ball too long taking the inevitable sack.

To WHO? He didn't look good running the base offense for Whis, at all. And that was WITH Fitz and Q.

(answering the thread title)

I think because some people see a big drop off between Warner and Leinart.

Others don't see a big drop-off, others might see a small drop off but a 10 year starter.

Some feel if it ain't broke don't try to fix it.

The frustrations of being a cardinal fan, the weird way many saw in the way we failed to get to the promise land, and the feeling the bubble will pop.

The memory of the offseason after the 1998 season, the feeling they got during the magical 2008 season is something they don't want to give up, the fact we aren't laughstocks anymore and wanting that to continue.

Finally the biggest fear is this feeling coming back

Oh no we suck again!

To each his own I guess. But long term, I think the seeds of success are there even if we take a step back next season.

It'd be like when he was with the Giants, IMO. He wasn't terrible for them.

Two completely different head coaches as well. They are in much better shape with Singletary as HC.

How can they have less than no separation? If Warner goes to the 49ers, what are the odds they make a real offer for Boldin? What would everyone think then? Warner, Boldin, Bruce, Gore, V. Davis and their young WR that I can't think of his name right now. The line is still an issue but that would certainly be an offense that is hard to sneeze at.

Not to mention how it would affect the Cardinals offense. Unproven Leinart with Breaston, Doucet and Fitz all working together for the first time, likely in Whis' "preferred" offense that has looked terrible every time we've seen it.
