Bickley's article:

Yet it's also fairly clear that the Cardinals are one of many organizations that have hoarded their money in anticipation of a lockout. In 2008, the team's payroll was $122 million. In 2009, it was $117 million.

This season, the singular pursuit of victory seemed to falter. According to numbers given to the Associated Press by the NFL Players Association, 19 of 32 franchises increased their payroll from 2009 to 2010, taking advantage of an uncapped year. Yet the Cardinals' payroll dropped 23 percent from last season, and they have the NFL's third-smallest payroll at $85.3 million.

Actually "they" are...
and in a round about way so are the initially ticket buyers.

Well in reality Miller Lite and Ford etal are paying for it. We only fork over about $35 million a year in ticket sales. That wouldn't even get you a decent SS in baseball.

:D

I will save my outrage, for this article is being spun by Dickley the Cardinal Hater... this could be the case of short term concequences for long term gain. What happens if and when the Salary Cap returns and the other team are screwed?

Haven't we been saying this for 40 years? That's a little too long-term for my tastes.

This too. I wish I had a dollar for every time somebody posted something like the following on a Cardinal message board. Yet No team has EVER been screwed. Ever!

What happens if and when the Salary Cap returns and the other teams are screwed?

Hasn't Joeshmo posted about a million times how this number is false? I seem to remember this being a big topic at the beginning of the year.

Yeah, I was told this as well, that this was a false number. IMO this is just cover for Ken Whisnnut for not getting NFL talent at key positions this year. The front office has not been cheap the last couple of years and really they have spent money in the past. Even if true Ken needs to own this mess based on his choice of starting QB for this season. Epic Fail on his part.

Who told you that was false number, Todd Haley or Dennis Green. It doesn't take a genius to figure out 40+ mill in actual salary came of the books from Warner(19), Dansby(9), Rolle(5), Boldin(3), Gandy(6), Okeafor(5),McFadden(?),Wells(3), and Berry (1). Those are estimates but are pretty close. Throw in ML's salary and it's more. Tell me where that money was r-invested into talent? Or just ask that person who told you that it was a cover and relay their answer to us. I don't think Bulger's 3 mill salary would have hurt all that much. I'm not sure what the savings cutting ML were but i'm guessing cutting ML and signing Bulger would have been close to a wash. So Whiz tried to address the QB situation but was told no. I can see where that was his fault.
Plus, I just named 9 starters from last years team that were not adequately replaced by Graves and the FO unless you consider Paris Lenon and Derek Anderson adequate replacements. Again, you're right. No team should expect a dropoff in perfromance when they lose almost 1/2 of their starters. Heck, they should improve. I know they would if we would have kept Todd Haley :doi:.

I have sold the last 5 home games. I will not invest the money or time to watch crap. I still watch at home but refuse to spend the money anymore.
