Why aren't we talking about the bad decision by Coach Whisenhunt?

Throwing the football with 50 seconds left in the game on third down, when NO has no timeouts left??

What is he possibly thinking?

Patrick fumbles and that ball could have easily been scooped up and taken the other way for a GW TD..

What is the rationale behind such a braindead decision?

I was losing my mind at the time. But we won. Go with it now and enjoy.

Plenty of time over next two weeks to analyze.

That wasn't the smartest call I've ever seen. Gave the Saints some extra time and with our defense you never want to do that.

But hey we won so the Pollyannas won't let anything that the Cards did wrong be discussed. Like the 1.7 yards per carry rushing for instance.

Yep, I question some playcalling but you have to admit that this team was ready to play so you have to give Whiz credit and as stated we Won a big game against a really good team. Enjoy it. These are tough to come by.

I can see both sides of this argument.

Whiz was trying to keep the ball in the O's hands so that we could control the clock to the end. It was 3rd & 8, and it wasn't a bad play, but Patrick should have put the ball away faster.

Had we let the clock wind down and punted, there would have been about 18 seconds left on the clock, and the Saints would have had the ball on their 9 (or thereabouts), and would have had to drive to get to field goal range with no timeouts left.

I can see it going both ways. Whiz made the call to keep the ball in the O's hands.

If you weren't impressed by the teams effort today, I don't know what its going to take amigo. Whiz just beat the superbowl champs with a rookie QB. :)

Just asking for trouble.. You're asking a rookie QB to complete a pass thowing across his body and the TE to catch the ball and not fumble (which he did)..

If that ball is thrown poorly or dropped.. you are giving NO 50 seconds to get into FG range... If that ball is fumbled you may end up losing the game with the ball going the other way for a TD or also giving NO great field position..

Seriously, what was the point of that... you run the ball and NO has to go the length of the field, with no timeouts, and 10 seconds to go...

Just being way too cute... It was an idiotic decision..

And yes I am thrilled with the win, just wanted to point this decision out because it was just so idiotic

Hall was doing OK up to that point, I have no issue with the play call. Like I said, it could go either way.

To be honest, I was yelling at DRC to go down a heck of a lot more on his last INT-TD that I was at Whiz for the play call.

Would someone tell DRC to not hold the ball like a loaf of bread?

hated the call

to me, this was similar to the 1st and goal at the 2 earlier

dont get fancy, just run the ball.

Worst case, its 3rd and 7 and you punt the ball back to the Saints with less than 20 secs (and no NO timeouts). Had that ball been incomplete, it saves a good 40 secs for a very good NO offense to get a FG to tie.

I thought you were being sarcastic, but you are serious. After a win like today, this is all you can find to talk about? Pathetic!

Jeez there you go again with your Pollyanna nonsense.

It was a legitimate topic. So do you think it was a good call or not?

Come on 40 you're better than that.

It was a huge mistake IMHO. But I will say this, by doing that Whiz showed the entire team he believes in Max Hall. Not many coaches would have let a UDFA rookie in his first start throw there, he did, and he completed it. That has to tell the team coach believes in Max.

I just hope we never do that again.

I didn't particularly like the call but I don't find the topic legitimate either. I think it's a bit much to ask "why aren't we talking about the assinine Coach Whisenhunt". I'd have no problem with suggesting that his decision was asinine but to sum him up that way is well over the top, IMO.

I was referring simply to his decision today. It was assinine.

Don't hold your breath. That's just CKW. It was stupid imo but then later he'll do something like that and it'll catch the d by surprise and win us a big game. Like that TE pass vs Atlanta.

That's EXACTLY what I thought too, that's the same thought as the one to Spach to seal the Falcons game.

I don't think he'd ever have let DA throw there though.

I completely disagree with not running it there, said so on the game thread, but it did show his confidence in Max Hall.

Didn't see anyone questioning the effort. The pass play on the previous possession could be justified, though I didn't agree with it. The pass play on the final possession was just a horrible call imo. Doesn't mean I'm not happy with the win.

Is this the way it's going to be all season long? Bitching and complaining even after a great win like today? Will we never get to revel in the thrill of a win anymore and just have to listen to negative crap like this no matter what happens?

We are 3 - 2 going into our bye week, in first place in our league and just beat the World Champions handily. Can we at least enjoy that for one day before we start all the negative crap again?

I don't know what happened to this board. It used to get somewhat negative after a particularly bad loss, but now it seems like it is like that all the time. This change in ownership has not been good for this board.

I'd much rather be a Pollyanna than a negative Nelly any day of the week. What's the sense of rooting for a team if you can't even enjoy it when they win?

I was screaming at the TV when DA came in, I questioned that move big time, but if Hall was gimpy its all good. I cant stand DA.
