The team won despite CKW's bad decisions. They have been doing it for years now. I think we got lucky in many regards. Brown's TD, the fumble going out of bounds, Max's fumble in the third not being scooped and returned.

The defense deserves A LOT of credit here. 3 Brees INT's is insane, especially since two of them came in the fourth quarter, where Brees had not thrown a pick in 26 consecutive games.

Coach deserves credit for the win, but the way he calls a game leaves a lot of openings for disaster. When things go his way, this is the result.

it was an assinine call BUT... it probably gave a TON of confidence to our QB moving forward and that assinine coach just got this team, left for dead, with an undrafted rookie QB to a W over the defending Super Bowl champs AND has us atop our division at 3-2 (for the fourth straight year) so I'll take the good with the bad.

Three decisions I really didnt like:

1. 1st and goal from the 2. 1 run and then two passes. If its Kurt Warner, fine -- but with Max in his first start, I would much rather hand it off three times. The reality is that Cards were incredibly fortunate to come away with a touchdown from that series given Max almost threw a pick on 2nd down and fumbled on 3rd down.

2. Fourth quarter after the Toler int. 3rd and 1, and you pass out of an empty backfield.

3. 3rd and 8 late in the game -- play the percentages and run the ball and burn clock.

This team's formula for winning is about running the ball, taking care of the ball and playing good defense -- they need to stick with that and not put the pressure on a guy making his first start to make those kinds of plays.

as one of the biggest defenders of Wiz this board has and a guy who thinks we're going to win the division, how the heck am I dark-sider still?

Keep beating that drum. Looks really intelligent considering he's been by far the best coach in the history of the team, and has us in a commanding position in the division with holes galore. Amazing the team continues to overcome his bad decisions.

I never said he wasn't the best coach we've had. I would love to be absolutely wrong about the guy, but some decisions are just head scratchers. On and off the field. First place is a great place to be. Now let's stay there.

FWIW: during this morning's call with Doug/Wolf, Coach W essentially admitted that on 3rd and 1 after the Toler int -- he should have run the ball.

I don't mind passing in that situation. Just go playaction, not out of an empty backfield shotgun formation.

He broke down the entire scenario & did say he should have run the ball as you reported. Whiz also stated that he still believes (knows) that he made the right decision on the 3rd down that this thread is based on. He instructed Max to eat the ball if Patrick wasn't open. Many are reacting to the fumble and I will repeat myself, both of our RB's have had fumbles in critical situations, THT against the Rams this year for instance.

Some are concerned about the chance of an incompletion. It was a short pass and it was executed well. If the play wasn't there then Hall was instructed to go down and keep the clock running.

Comparing this the Pisarkawitz (sp) disaster in the meadowlands is outlandish.

I also believe many of us have witnessed so many goofy losses by the Cards that we at times overeact to some situations.

Duck calls it Whiz Magic and I won't disagree, that is if the magic includes the idea that one can create their own "luck" at times.
