First of all Shaq is old and on decline. This is more of a state of emergency for the suns and they think by bringing in injury prone shaq that they can stop gasol and bynum. By trading away marion they are taking away their #1 rebounder and #2 scorer. Shaq will have limited minutes, especially the way the suns play. If I were a suns fan I would be worried right now!!!! I would've had Marion play out the season then either resign him or go after the deep free agent market. Here's what makes no sense to me; The Suns owners would rather have Shaq's 20 mil a year than extend the contract for young Marion to stay with pheonix? If this was 3 years ago, maybe but Shaq is now 35! Suns fans we will see you and beat you in the western finals this year!

Your opinion will be the "national" one that is for sure. I have already seen it all over. The Suns fans seem pretty divided over this but Amare is happy so I guess I have to say

shaq is just doing such a great job in miami now, so im sure he will do just as good of a job in phoenix. an old crappy injured center from the worst team in the league for possibly the best player on the suns just after sarver and kerr promised not to break up the core..... liars!!!!!!

Not all Laker fans are trolls, I'm smart enough not to attempt to gloat when I know damn well my team is far from perfect or invincible.

If Shaq holds up for the Suns and is able to play the minutes that they need of him, the Suns will be a very very hard team to beat. My only concern as a Suns fan would be how many minutes Shaq can play. While I think the trade is a mistake, I won't lie and say I'm not a little afraid that Shaq will come here with a chip on his shoulder and help the Suns steam roll the NBA.

It could happen.

Shaq sucks so bad its not even funny. Kerr must've shown Sarver some old video of Shaq when he was a rookie.

We can get that guy? He looks great!!!!!!!!!! What's his name again?

Biggest mistake you guys have made. Thanks for the Pacific. You just put it on a silver platter.

The only time you beat us this season was because of Marion, btw.

You traded an allstar for a hasbeen. Great job.

Lakers will be the Western Champs. Shaq can't stop Bynum (too old) and Amare can't stop PAU (plays no defense). THANK YOU SUNS FOR TRADING AWAY YOUR BEST PLAYER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From another Suns board:

Here is the highlights from Shaq's last game.

http://broadband.nba.com/cc/playa.php?content=video&url=http://boss.streamos.com/wmedia/nba/nbacom/recaps/recap08_606_clemia.asx

There is a nice block then outlet pass for a fast break.

http://broadband.nba.com/cc/playa.php?content=video&url=http://boss.streamos.com/wmedia/nba/nbacom/recaps/recap08_587_nykmia.asx

This is another January game. Just watch the first play.

http://broadband.nba.com/cc/playa.php?content=video&url=http://boss.streamos.com/wmedia/nba/nbacom/recaps/recap08_575_pormia.asx

Shaq scored 20 and had 11 boards in this January game.

http://broadband.nba.com/cc/playa.php?content=video&url=http://boss.streamos.com/wmedia/nba/nbacom/recaps/recap08_564_chimia.asx

Shaq's first game back after sitting due to the hip. Scores 24 and grabs 10 boards on 8-14 shooting and 8-12 from the free throw line. Shaq definitely has plenty left in the tank. Watch the dunk in this highlight.

Ok, the Laker fans are officially approaching trollish behavior. It's one thing to ridicule the organization for a trade, it's yet another to spend 12 hours posting the same thing over and over and over on multiple threads. Isn't that the definition of trolling? Of course, the mod here agrees with them, so maybe it isn't. ;)

They are not so much trolling as they are gloating over the fact that somehow Kupchak got a non-compete agreement signed with Memphis. Merry Christmas! And then they taunt about how all trades pale in comparison. Really? Ya think? Lakers fans, just be grateful that your lopsided trade worked out for you and wait to see if your wildest dreams come true.

wasnt there rumblings about bynum maybe missing the whole season? last i heard they said it would still be another 6 weeks before he can return. pretty foolish to start making such claims when your stud center might not return this season.

From Bucher, yes. Shot down...incorrect. Shocking, being from Ric, that there was no truth to it. :sarcasm:

Unsubstantiated rumors from guys like Ric Bucher and Charley Rosen. Everything coming from the Lakers is that Bynum is right on schedule to be back sometime in March.

Being a true suns fan, and a realist, I just have to say that this was a horrible trade. Not to beat a dead horse, but Shaq?!?!? really?!?!? this is the best we could have done!?!? This is what we come back with for the gasol trade to the lakers. Im just being honest here guys, but I think that the Lakers got a much better deal, and they are really starting to scare me. Bynum will need to be doubled, leaving gasol open with Amarie gaurding him?? not gonna work. We have a huge fight up against us, and instead of bringing in Floyd Mayweather, we brought in George Forman. Shaq's gonna be 36 in a few weeks. Thats as old as my granpa. C'mon Kerr, what were you thinking? I'm really upset about this trade. Couldn't have been a worse trade in my book. I would have rather have gotten Kwame Brown.

As a true suns fan, and a realist, I am very unhappy with the trade. I think that this was a bad trade altogether. Not to beat a dead horse but Shaq?!?!?! Really?!?!?! This guy is going to be 36 in a few weeks, and has a bad back, and is overweight. This is how we counter the Gasol trade to the Lakers?? C'mon. This is a very bad and desperate move on our part. We have a big fight coming up, and instead of getting Floyd Maryweather, we go Georg Foreman and his foreman grill. This was a desperate move, and it was made in haste, and it is the beginning of the end for us.

What cracks me up is that both your teams did that because they know their current model cannot beat the Spurs when playoff time comes around. If the Spurs are healthy going into the playoffs, even with the new toys, both teams won't be able to beat the Spurs, 4 out of 7, unless they learn how to play together as effectively as the Spurs do. The time for that was in the off-season, but since the trade was done now...both teams have to integrate A STARTER into their style of play. Spurs just have to integrate a backup PG. That will be immensely much easier.
While you guys whoop and holler, the Spurs will do what they always do...fly under the radar and then stomp on both your teams on the way to the title.

I am really worried about the lakers. They are going to be the frontrunners for sure now. This is just icing on the cake for them. Damn Lakers!
