That wouldn't have made a difference.

Que? They used Odem's exception to get Nash without the Suns taking back any salary, only draft picks and cash. Nash was not a RFA so the 1year hold does not apply. The trade exception was already included in LA's cap hold for this year.

Pretty sure the Lakers are well over the luxury tax. If that rule were being enforced it would have blocked Nash.

Fair enough I didn't think there were any teams that were that far over and in truth there aren't. This new rule affects 3 teams and thats it

S&T will still be a major means of teams over the cap to acquire players and expiring deals will still play a major factor

But being over the luxury tax would have prevented them doing a S&T regardless of what they used under the upcoming rule.

Being over the tax does not supersede the trade exception. They would not be able to just out right do a S&T without giving any assets/cap holds (The trade exeception is the asset used)

I know, but we are talking about a rule change for the 2013/2014 season and how it would have effected current teams. Under the rule teams over the luxury tax are not allowed to S&T, period.

Saw these stats posted on another forum.

PER
Player A: 13.11
Player B: 13.12

Rebounding Rate:
A: 10.6
B: 10.3

True Shooting%
A: 50.2%
B: 50.3%

Turnover Rate:
A: 12.1
B: 12.4

So... who are these 2 players? One of them should be a safe assumption.

That's pretty funny. But did you include more than just Beasley's last year? He definitely regressed, and maybe the change of scenery will get him back on track.

http://www.twincities.com/sports/ci...appy-have-shorter-contract-timberwolves-still

Timberwolves all-star forward Kevin Love is glad he negotiated the option to leave Minnesota as a free agent in three years instead of securing a maximum five-year contract, demanding again that management invest in a playoff-contending team before he commits long term to the franchise.
Love also was pleased to see "bad blood" purged from the locker room and stressed the "urgency of the situation" with the Wolves, whose roster remains unsettled after the team failed to sign Portland free-agent forward Nicolas Batum

I bet he was talking about Anthony Tolliver...

Paul Coro: Blanks on Beasley: "It's a fresh start for us & a fresh start for him. We aren't afraid of what he's experienced. We want to embrace that." Twitter

Beasley seemed quite positive in the press conference. Vowed to become a better defender and said all the weed problems in the past because "10 mins of pleasure isn't worth my life and career"

Seemed extrememly grateful for someone giving him a 2nd chance and opportunity.

Had no jitters about answering questions of his past, said once this team reaches full chemistry with one another, its capable of winning it all.

Will be wearing jersey #0 :D

... finding full chemistry and winning it all? What is he smoking? Guess that's just jock talk. Now he's got to prove it on the court for a full season.
