One of the latest in the dump Marion campaign is the claim that if the Suns signed Kobe, they would have to move JJ or Marion to the bench. So the Suns should then trade Marion for a PG or something.

Personally, I think a lineup of

C- Dice
PF - Stoudemire
SF - Marion
SG - Bryant
PG - JJ

would work perfectly well. I'd like to get a big man and have all kinds of problems with Kobe as a person, but from an on the court standpoint I don't see why this lineup wouldn't work. JJ showed signs of being an OK PG and Kobe has handled the ball enough that it wouldn't be a problem.

I am not opposed to trading Marion for star like T-Mac, but most of the proposals seem pretty lame.

That lineup can only work if JJ or Kobe can guard the Marbury's of this league.

Personally I doubt it.

That lineup also lacks a true spot-up shooter for Kobe to pass to.

If we signed Kobe how much would that leave to sign Dice? Probably about 2 mill which I dont think would be enough.

I like the idea of sliding JJ over to the point...or it can even be Kobe at the point for all I care. They could be interchangable.

Thats not really fair because most players cant guard Marbury. Not only that but who cares because Stephon plays for the lousy Knicks.

Maybe with Lampe at center it would help...a little. Plus Marion can knock it down.

Francis?
Davis?
Arenas?
Iverson?
Gordon?
Van Exel?
Parker?

There are a lot more real quick small PGs that would be tough to contain. I don't even want to remember the havoc that Speedy Claxton caused against the Suns last year.

We would still have Barbosa on the bench if it doesn't work. But one injury and we are forced to matchup with Howard Eisley or double team if they are lighting us up.

Well why not let Kobe take the tougher assignment? Kobe can guard SG of PG depending who the tougher player is.

lets get kobe first, then the lineup proposals

i'm not getting my hopes up for kobe. i was told for a long time that tmac would be coming here, and i realized that the expectation created a sense of crushing loss when i realized that would not be the case (yes i am a HARDCORE basketball fan). i'm not going to do that with the mirage of kobe's potential signing.

I'm sorry all the speculating Kobe posts have messed with your emotions. I'm sure we will all refrain from posting Kobe rumors from here on out to keep you happy.

In return though you're going to have to step it up and entertain us with factual posts and articles and give us other things to discuss.

Deal?

I never get disappointed when these fantasy deals fall through because I never believe then anyway. Ever since the T-Mac deal came up I said I didn't think it would happen because I didn't think the Suns could offer enough without destroying the team. They didn't offer enough and it hasn't happened.

I've never believed the Kobe thing would happen. I have enough problems with him as a person and a team member that I would not be upset if it fell through. But if it does happen, I can't see tearing the rest of the team appart.

BTW, Kobe proved to be the best defender on the Lakers in the finals. If a front line of JJ and Kobe would have trouble with some of the quicker PG's, you can understand why I am so reluctant to get Nash. :hulk:

Sorry, I don't see it at all.

If that's why you don't want to get Gary Payton, I can understand, but I don't Nash having more trouble against quick PGs than Kobe does.

You've misinterpreted my point. I like Kobe's defense and I don't like Nash's defense. Is that clear?

Clear enough, but it's not what you said in your other post.

Kobe was probably the Lakers' best PF defender, too, after Karl Malone went down, but that doesn't mean he necessarily defends PFs any better than Dirk Nowitzki does.
