So Hamza Abudullah and his 71 career tackles and 25 career games was just SO much better than Rashard Johnson who had been with the team for the entire season when Abdullah appeared in his first game of the season in Week 17?

It's not like Rashard Johnson was replaced by Darren Sharper. Our 3rd round pick was replaced by a guy whom literally 31 other teams decided wasn't as good as the 53 players already on their roster.

That doesn't mean Rashad isn't a player, the coaches just feel he's not ready

Great thread most talented posters anywhere. When weighing his pros and cons on a piece of paper Warner has to put up "No pass defense" as his number one reason to come back to win the SuperBowl in one year.

Kurt will leave that money on the table knowing Brenda's list has at no.1,a stud Offensive left tackle ,that can handle a speed rush.Do we have a way to get one now being a top 8 team without losing Dansby?

Adrian Wilson may be a Pro Bowler but he can't cover a tight end to save his life.If he then can't get many qb sacks or runs stopped for loses then we have a player with no position.A run stoppig LB would be more helpfull.

Wilson is a freak that does'nt fit or help our defense and missed more tackle attempts this postseason than I care to remember.Where does a DC play him? I wish we could trade him although 99% of you are more concerned about A-Dub being the Heart of the team.I'm more concerned about his contributions against a passing team.

I love the size of his heart and hitting power. We NEED so many positions to collect in this one offseason due to being the oldest team in the NFL.We've got to clean house.Plus Gerald Hayes needs an in depth back workup before we pay him expecting him to hold up for a full season.I personally believe he is damaged goods disc wise.

Great posts guys. You've nailed almost everything. This will be the Biggest offseason to keep this team as a Division winner again as we've ever seen under coach Whiz.I don't see how it can be done with the old vets and the holes that need to be filled.

I'm not hating on the guy. I really, REALLY want Rashard Johnson to work out. But he seems more like Buster Davis than Early Doucet at this point. I'm not ready to say that Antrel Rolle shouldn't let the door hit him on the way out of a Pro Bowl-caliber season because we have a guy who was a healthy inactive for the last half of the season and the playoffs.

One of the problems that occurred before Ken Whisenhut got here was that the Cards did a terrible job estimating the quality of the players on their own roster. It doesn't seem like we're doing that anymore (playing hardball with Anquan Boldin is a fantastic example of this). But the reflection in the mirror has to be clear.

If I'm not mistaken Johnson was a rookie & the guy has the potential to be a true centerfielder that Rolle just isn't.

Absolutely ridiculous. You bad mouth Rolle every chance you got, delcared Johnson would be starting by mid-season before the guy even made it in to training camp...you need to take a step back and see how well Rolle plays when he is healthy. He is simply the best FS the Arizona Cardinals have had (I say Arizona because I didn't watch the St Louis Cards).

While Rolle improved this season, he is far from being a top flight FS. I think signing him long-term would be a mistake at this point.

Didn't Rodgers miss wide open bombs on the 1st & last series last week? Guess who was covering on both? I still say he's a more athletic SS playing out of position.

yeah it was Rolle beaten but 1) he wasn't healthy 2) name me one Free Safety in the NFL that can cover Jennings one on one--thats bad scheme by our idiot DC

Seriously. I don't understand why everyone is afraid to say it, but I don't think that this team can afford to release Rolle for salary reasons if R. Johnson was so bad that a guy signed off the street in Week 12 is going to be so much better than him.

I'm putting him on the bubble just to make it out of camp next fall. He couldn't even play special teams well enough to make the 45 man roster Sundays (!?).

very concerning that the guy couldn't get on the field. He just looked heavy legged and slow when I watched him

why was our D SO much better last post-seasons? Easy answer.

LAST YEAR:

Round 1 - faced a rookie QB
Round 2 - faced a pathetic quarterback
Round 3 - faced a good QB, gave up 25 points and 400+ total yards, blew an 18 point lead in the blink of an eye
Round 4 - faced a mediocre O who had no running game and needed a last second TD to win from a clutch QB

This, year?

We faced the two best Offenses in the league. Nuff said.

Definately turnovers/big plays on D last year. Many on D a year older and I was astounded as to how bad McFadden was in the playoffs. Wilson not near as effective when we play a team that spreads the offense and has a pass catching TE.

We need to draft and sign FA's to bolster the D. One or both of Chike and Berry need to be gone. Upgrade Brown and Adams. They should not see the field as often as they have. Can't have Hayes back if he is not healthy. We have little depth anywhere at LB. I for one hope we figure out how to keep Dansby.

I see nothing in Rashad Johnson. Hope I am wrong. We really need Cody Brown and Will Davis to work out for us.

I am sorry but that does not explain setting a playoff record for giving up points. Our defense was awful and there is no excuse.

I'm with you. 73 points allowed in only 6 quarters of NFL football is atrocious no matter how good the other teams' offense is. You shouldn't give up that many points if the other team gets to play 12 guys on offense. Especially when you only have a total of 3 turnovers.

To put it in perspective that would be 776 points for a 16 game season.

But on the other hand the Cards have scored 113 points in their 3 home playoff games. That's awesome.

It doesn't excuse it but the question was why did our defense play so much better last year and that is the answer. Additionally health was an issue. Oh well at least Farve picked Dallas apart.

I agree, there's no excuse, but the D wasn't lights out last year either. They still gave up 24, 25 and 27 points to OK offenses. Giving up an average of 26 ppg isn't anything to crow about.

that being said, we were beyond atrocious this year, but injuries/MUCH better opposing offenses had a lot to do with that.
