Aside from being a rookie and everything that goes with that. He did not play with the first team or against first team defenses in preseason. We have a veteran QB who has played in the NFL at a high level and has been playing with the starters most of preseason.

That said Anderson needs to make the most of it or Max will be playing at some point this season.

Because he is an undrafted rookie who hasn't seen anything but 3rd string defenses in the preseason. Majority of rookie QBs struggle and even less are ready to play week 1. Maybe by week 12 with nearly a seasons worth of practice & film study he will be ready but right now is too soon IMO.

Max as good as he looked is going to need time to learn the NFL.

What everybody else said.

Plus, I think DA gives us a solid chance to win.

I didn't look up the others, but I knew this one was way off.

Here are Tom Brady's rookie year stats:

During his rookie season, he was 1-of-3 passing, for six yards. (wikipedia)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Roethlisberger#2004_season

Roethlisberger did not immediately step in as the starting quarterback for the Steelers. He was the No. 3 QB behind Tommy Maddox and Charlie Batch. When Batch was injured in the preseason, however, Roethlisberger moved up to no. 2. Maddox started, and won, the season opener against the Raiders and started versus the Ravens. But after an ineffective outing and third-quarter injury to Maddox, Roethlisberger stepped in for his first NFL action. Despite spurring a mild comeback, the Steelers lost the game. Maddox's injury changed the Steelers' original plan for Roethlisberger, which was for him to sit on the bench or play sparingly during the first season or two in order to learn the team's system. Instead, he started the third game of the season.

Big Ben- 11th pick. Didn't start the season opener.
Matt Ryan- 3rd pick.
Joe Flacco- 18th pick. Only started week one because of injuries.
Drew Brees- 2nd round pick. Didn't start til November.
Tom Brady- 6th round pick. Threw 3 passes his rookie year, never started.
Sam Bradford- 1st overall pick.
Max Hall- Undrafted. 256 people were picked and he wasn't one of them. He has never taken a snap in the NFL and played good against scrubs. To call for him to start now is stupid. If he plays this year it is because we are terrible.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Flacco#2008_season

Due to a season-ending injury to incumbent starter Kyle Boller and an illness to former Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith, Flacco became the starting quarterback in the 2008 season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Why would Hall start against NFL first teamers now? His reputation and legacy are growing without ever throwing a regular season pass. If I were his agent I'd tell him to fake an injury so he wouldn't have to go in at all. By this rate in three years, he'll command Manning money without ever throwing a pass.

Admittedly, I do not know much about Max Hall and I suspect most others didnt until Peter King wrote about how impressed he was and it was posted here. That being said, it takes more than a blurb from King to elevate you to a starting QB in the NFL. Lets rein it in a bit on Hall and play a couple of downs first.

I don't think Brady started his rookie year. Bledsoe got hurt in Brady's second year, otherwise he may never have seen the field.

It's NOT Whiz' usual M.O.

Playing time is earned. Hall has shown flashes. My gut feeling is we'll see him take the reins about 1/2 way into the year. That is unless D.A. surprises. Time will tell. Let's just get out of week 1 with a win. GO CARDS! :D

Like my Chef said in culinary school, "You can't microwave beef wellington." + DA gives us our best chances as of now.
