Why ? Why ? Why? This is ridiclous!

Because we know we cannot run the ball. We are using Warner and the short passes as a running game just like he did in St Louis. If you cannot run you cannot run so no use beating your head against a brick wall. Until we get an OL and a blocking TE or FB we will continue to pass. That was the game plan going in.

Marshall Faulk didn't run the ball in St Louis?

we basically got 4 ypc if you subtract out the first run play, 10 yard loss because Leckey made a bad snap. the counter is their secondary is bad and our Wr's are great.

And the fact that why run when you are throwin for 8 yards a play? I mean I think in most cases you need to run much more, but the reason you stated above cannot just be thrown out. Leckey making a bad snap, holding penalties, missed blocks. Those are reasons why this team doesnt try to run the ball that often.

Saying we had 4 ypc if we took out all the reasons why we dont, doesnt make sense to me.

All I think Russ is saying is that JJ's YPC is a bit skewed because of that 10 yd loss at the start of the game. For the most part, we ran the ball decently.

Also, anyone notice how we continue to DOMINATE against the run? God, I hope we can keep it up.

Not as much as a franchise RB usually does. In the years that Warner was there Faulk rushed the ball 17.5 times a game.

Actually, when compared to most other full time starting running backs, no not really, check his per game rushing avg, vs Shaun Alexander, Ladanian Tomlinson & Tiki Barber:

Faulk
1999 - 15.8 carries/game
2000 - 18.1
2001 - 18.6
2002 - 15.1
2003 - 19.0
2004 - 13.9
Total Avg - 16.7

Alexander
2001 - 19.3
2002 - 18.4
2003 - 20.4
2004 - 22.1
2005 - 23.9
Total Avg - 20.6

Thomlinson
1999 - 23.1
2000 - 24.2
2001 - 25.2
2002 - 19.8
2003 - 23.8
2004 - 20.1
2005 - 25.1
Total Avg - 22.9

Barber
2002 - 19
2003 - 17.4
2004 - 20.1
2005 - 20.2
Total Avg - 19.1

On average he carried 4-5 times less per game then most of the big starting RB's, however on the other side of the coin he also averaged 3-4 more receptions per game then other RB's, which is where alot of his yardage came from, but since alot of those were screens and shuttle passes they seem like runs.

Oh I realize that but the disparity was nothing like it is with us,John's post made it seem the Rams couldn't run, martz simply often chose not to.

He didn't have to. They did pretty much what they wanted to in the passing game.

That's bull when I hear someone say we don't run because can't. Arrington was ripping 9 and 10 yard gains. Keep feeding him the ball and good things will happen. I am sick of the coaching staff's excuse that we always throw because we are behind. We always throw because we are a pass happy team. I have yet to see a series where we run the ball two or three times. Sure you will get those one and two yard gains, but that's going to happen. We seem to be always passing on first down instead of running. And when we are on the goaline we don't use any type of misdirection, which is the kiss of death with this o-line and weak fullback.

Hey, the fact is that the 49ers have a bad pass defense and we have a good pass offense. If I was gameplanning, I would take advantage of this by throwing the ball, and if I didn't, I would be fired. It is not like we played with the lead the whole game and kepth throwing. We where in a close game, trailing for a good portion of it, and kept to our game plan. i have no problem with the pass/run disparity today.
