Is it that so many on the board here want to draft a QB at 6? What since would that pick make. No on second thought why is it that so many refuse to give J Mac a chance to sink or swim. WE have a Vet there now in Blake. J Mac deserves the chance to earn his spot. Backup or starter. Why is it so many do not want to give him a chance to earn it. Throwing money at a Leftwich while the Defense suffers for lack of a rush or a shutdown corner would be Plummer contractesqe ..Imo...we shouldn't judge J Mac...the jury is out on his reading of Defenses...but he has unmistakable Talent... Im for keeping him in the loop for the future...and for dismissing all the talk of Drafting a Qb at 6 or in the 2nd for that matter. We have to many holes to fill to watch while a "Franchise Guy" sits for 2yrs...

I would rather draft a "franchise" guy now while we have our stop-gap, and wait two years so that he's ready to lead the team when the rest of the pieces are in place. Better to do it now than to wait and draft one on two years when we NEED someone to take over for Blake.

As far as McCown goes, I don't know what to say, all I know is that if I had to put money on who I think will be the better player in two years, McCown or Leftwich? I would most definetly bet on Leftwich.

If you heard J Mac this week on Kdus...he sounded hungry to succeed...it reminded me of a young Steve Beurline...before he got to play....and when he wasn't sitting in the stands drinking a cold and frosty...he was a good game manager. J Mac could be like that or like a Chris Chandler...not flashy but gutsy....thats what he sounded like...I think the fans need to get behind this Kid...he just strikes me as a winner. I remember last year before camp he was driving in to Phoenix and called in to KDUS and said whats up Im in town and ready to play ball...all I need to do is learn the reads and I can succeed. I can play in this league. He still thinks that he can...we need to give him his props..and see what he is made of.....

I am all for giving the guy his chance.

I am not in favor of takin a QB in the later rounds like 2 on down, because we have done that with McCown.

But If there is a Leftwich sittin on the board at #6 we HAVE to take him... A Shot at a FRANCHISE QB cannot be passed on...

If they both develop into good players you can allways trade one for a first rounder... There is no such thing as to many QB's on a team...

I totaly agree.

At this point I am confident enough in McCwon to allow him to remain as the backup to Blake, an eventually compete with him for the job. And in all fairness to Josh, If we brought Leftwich in, I think they would be on a level playing field to compete with each other. Josh has a year of exp., knows the system, and has been taking reps; Leftwich comes from a bigger school, has had sucess in college, and is a high prospect.

I would love to seee McCown succeed, and would be more than willing to support him, but if we had both of them developing side by side; I would be even happier.

it's impossible for any of us to have a read on how Mccown will do until he plays more.THe reason i like Leftwich is that he is a franchise type QB and you don't let those pass you by when you have a chance at one.Mccown may turn out to be good, but he may not also.THere is a lot less doubt about Leftwich.I do agree that we shouldn't draft a Qb after round 1 because then your in the same boat as Mccown.Leftwich has the pedigree, size, arm, leadership, and all the intangibles. His only question is his injury, which you would think will be 100% over time. He's not going to start his rookie year anyway.Mccown is much more raw and unproven.

problem is if you draft leftwich how much money is that??? at 6 maybe somewhere around 10 mil bonus for a guy to ride the bench yeah right!! you cant take a QB when you took one last year you still have not gave a chance. McCown has all the tools he's like 6'5" 225ish fast, mobile, rocket arm all he needs is to be groomed which is why I beleive Blake is here. You need to draft defense you have already addressed the offense in impact spots. With a respectable defense this team could suceed next season and I think thats good for this organization.

The only reason you draft a QB at #6 when you're developing McCown is if Leftwich drops to us and the coaches and scouts feel he's something really special.

Many fans and scouts apparently feel that way. It would depend on how the Cards' personnel guys feel.

But if you feel a once-in-ten-years kind of QB has fallen into your lap, you can't pass him by
