They can franchise him but there is no guarantee of a trade and that's why teams in the past have passed on this risky move, popular among message board GM's.
the trick there is to not ask for too much....a compensatory pick would be a third....so if you get offered a second, you take it. trying to hold out for two firsts is where you run into problems.

Bears defense did not play up to their reputation and Kalil Mack did not show up big.

They have up 16 points. What did you expect? A shutout? The simple fact is the Eagles defense played very well.

they did...and the result should have the bears looking into improving their offense just a bit in the off season. another lineman, a big play wide receiver... overall it was a well played game by both sides but the bears should never have been relying on that kick...they need more firepower if they want to advance next year.

They gave up 16 points. The defense wasn't the issue. The offense could only manage 15 points against a team with a patchwork secondary. Hell, this loss isn't even on Parkey. The offense screwed the pooch plain and simple.

2. The Bears defense had 10 men on the field for Dallas Goedert’s 10-yard touchdown catch with 5:20 remaining in the third quarter.

After Amos’ penalty gave the Eagles’ drive new life, the Bears continued to help them out. Prince Amukamara’s pass interference moved the Eagles 33 yards, and then the Bears had a personnel debacle.

This was ironic because three plays earlier, the Bears were penalized for having 12 men on the field, and McManis pointed to himself and jogged off, apparently the extra man.

On the touchdown, Amos realized the Bears were short a man, so he ran toward the line of scrimmage and tried to cover Goedert. Goedert beat him on a post route. He was in single coverage with no help, obviously. Amos was supposed to be the help.
