I would guess the source on this is Bettcher. There was probably not as simple as it's being made in the report either. The coach that is coming with Wilks from Carolina was named DC fairly early after the announcement.

More likely, his agent.

Regardless, Giants DC job is one of the better options out there. I don't blame him for accepting, and wish him luck.

at least they have a long history of being committed to their defense so he shouldnt have problems getting parts.
I imagine with Wentz and Prescott both being fairly mobile Bettchers experience containing Wilson was a strong point in his favor. Beating Dallas repeatedly and thoroughly has always been in the NYG mission statement.

I do not believe for a second that the Cardinals made an offer as a "perfunctory courtesy". What in the world would be the point of that?! If it was an offer that they knew Bettcher would not accept, then it was no courtesy. That would be totally out of character for the Cardinals' front office.

They either did not make an offer, or they made a sincere offer.
