Shaq's gonna get fat and lazy again, or just old. Amare abuses Yao and this year Amare will stop Duncan.

We already saw last year how Amare owned Duncan at the offensive end. This year Amare will own him on defence too.

The Suns don't need anymore stars they need role players. SAR could be a great role player for this team but can he play PG?

Some of the minutes allocations miss the basic truth that D'Antoni plays his starters a lot because he wants his best guys on the court a lot.

KT is not a "great" defender, but he has a reputation for being a solid low post defender which is what the Suns need. It is said that Amare explicitly suggested the Suns try to get KT. Perhaps he remembers the game on Feb 5 when KT had 21 rebounds against the Suns.

In any case, my preference is for the Suns to get a strong defense oriented guy. The fact that the Rockets have not yet re-signed Mutombo gives me a faint hope that the Suns could pick him up for the LLE. Forget style, he defensed Amare better than anyone else in the NBA last season.

i dont see why a lot of u think shareef would be a good fit here. you guys are getting too anxious...we shouldn't sign the first big that is available. especially a player like shareef who wont fit this system; he cant run, he's a post-up and face the basket player who likes the slow game.

The issue for Portland is that they may not want to trade Abdur-Rahim within the Western Conference.

That's why I suggested the Suns might have to sweeten it more.

I like your suggestion of Portland receives: Diaw/Phoenix's 2007 First, if the JJ sign and trade goes through. If I were the Suns I would never offer up the two picks they receive from Atlanta.

Still if the Suns had two give up only their two first round picks in non-consecutive years (if Abdur-Rahim is healthy and can fit the Suns style of play) it would be tempting.

I don't see a problem with the Blazers trading within the Conference, they traded the #4 pick to Utah who is in their division.

I just see a 4&5 rotation of Thomas, SAR and Amare being a very potent offense. We will miss a lot of scoring with JJ gone and SAR can provide a good amount.

yea we stood no change of getting SAR. it is important to remember that he has never been to the playoffs. the suns are going to the playoffs this year and for the foreseeable future. the nets stand a good chance of not making the playoffs. sounds like the prefect place for SAR.

I'm not so sure that they are a lock for the playoffs. They are not that deep off of the bench. Also, if anyone goes down with an injury, they are screwed.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The New Jersey Nets on Tuesday rescinded their trade with the Portland Trail Blazers for Shareef Abdur-Rahim after the forward failed a physical last week.

"After consulting with several noted specialists, we felt that rescinding the trade is our best course of action," Nets president Rod Thorn said. "We will now look in other directions for ways to improve our team."

The Nets did not elaborate on their decision.

The Nets and Trail Blazers had agreed on a deal, pending a physical, that would have sent the nine-year veteran to the Eastern Conference squad in exchange for New Jersey's lottery-protected first-round pick in 2006 and the team's trade exception as a result of the Kerry Kittles deal to the Los Angeles Clippers in 2004.

Abdur-Rahim missed 22 games with the Blazers last season after undergoing surgery on his right elbow in January.

New Jersey agreed to a six-year deal with the 29-year-old veteran, who has averaged 19.8 points and 8.1 rebounds during his nine-year career with Vancouver, Atlanta and Portland.

The fact that New Jersey is not a lock for the playoffs is not saying that eight teams are definately better than them. However, they finished 8th last year and one could make the argument that Cleveland (due to Labron simply being a year more experienced) New York (with off season additions) or some other team is only a twisted ankle away from passing them.

Kidds knees are shot. Carter has no heart. Robinson is ancient. Who does that leave? Krtic and Jefferson. Both are decent, but can't carry a team to the playoffs.

This physical with SAR seems rather suspicious to me. The Nets seem to be refusing to comment on what they found. I have a feeling they did a blood test and found an illegal substance. I can’t image that it is a physical problem. I mean the guy did play for the Blazers.

I'm not totally down on him, but I don't think he's a good git.

I think he would be a great fit. Look at Detroit, they took a risk on McDyess, a guy with bad knees and he fit in great with the Pistions. If you limit SAR minutes to 25 a game in rotation with Amare and Thomas, you basicly have the same type of front line as the Pistions.
