Listening to XTRA, 910am today, they are repeating a story that Adrian Wilson and Darnell Dockett called Mike Jurecki over and gave him a message to give to us. They told Jurecki to tell us to be loud anytime the Colts' offense was on the field.

Most of us already understand that is the time to make noise. The importance tomorrow is magnified by the way Manning calls a play after lining up. AW and Nine-Oh recognize that we could disrupt his play calling from the seats.

Now, I understand that the people on this message board are a very small percentage of the people at the game. We can only make so much of a difference. On the other hand, if we talk to everyone we see on Sunday and explain that the Colts' offense depends on communication after lining up, we can magnify our impact. AW and DD have asked us to do this. It is rare for team leaders to give a message/plea to the fans through the media. It indicates how much they want to succeed on Sunday. I will not let them down. Are you with me? (I know you are, but can you take it to another level?)

My suggestion is to buy an extra 20 plastic red drinking cups, cut a cross on the bottom, fold the cut corners up inside and make a small megaphone. It is easy to carry in a stack of 10 or 20 and then pass them out. Again, we can only do so much, but if we spread the word to 20 people each we can start to have an impact. Any cup with the bottom cut out or folded in works as a good megaphone. Even if you don't bring or prepare extras, your single voice will help. Or, spread the word, this is what XTRA sports said they were told to do. Tell every friend you know going to the game that we are doing this and tell them why.

I am only trying to do what I can do. Wilson and Dockett think we can make a difference. What do you think?

Noise is never, ever an issue at UoP.... ever! I have no doubt we'll be representing in very fine fashion Sunday night!!!

BTW, Manning uses hand signals to a great extent. I don't believe noise is going to present an issue for him and his ability to play-call up at the line.
Nonetheless, UoP will be ROCKING Sunday evening baby!!!

Make that place rumble like 4th quarter at the nfc championship. The upper level was SHAKING. Are we sure they will let us bring the cups in though?

I want more noise than ever and AW/DD asked for it. Manning can't do everything with hand signals although I have a hand signal for him if necessary. If AW/DD went out of their way to get the word to us that it matters, then I am in, ALL IN!

Done.

My unit will be 4 soldiers strong.

We accept our mission, sir.

We will not let you down.

Salud, to the Cardinals!

You must magnify your four soldiers by a factor of twenty each. Tell everyone in your section, everyone you see, to at least roll up their program and yell through it. The directed amplification has an impact.

Make that place rumble like 4th quarter at the nfc championship. The upper level was SHAKING. Are we sure they will let us bring the cups in though?

Yes, I did it last year although the rolled up program is easier and works nearly as well. The important thing is to spread the word beyong this message board. That is where the difference will be made.

Yell through your program or cup facing everyone behind you in your section "Use your program to be loud! Hear how loud I am? Manning calls audibles!"

When they hear how loud your voice was yelling at them they will be encouraged to do the same.

:koolaid: Gotta get your "birds" up.

Classic scene from the Atlanta game last year when Whisenhunt leans over and says to another coach "man this place is loud."

how hard would this be to get talked about on say, 12 news?

No idea. AW and Dockett went to Jurecki. As far as I know all Jurecki did is spread the word at his station so the other hosts talked about it. It is my idea to create megaphones because I know they help in any form.

Yep, it was Haley.

Completely not true. That stadium can be pretty passive at times. It amazes me sometimes just how quiet it is. Certain times during the 49er game are a prime example. It should be as loud and as consistent as it was during the playoffs last year without question. But sadly it isnt.

Everyone needs to go and clean party city out of their megaphones again. I havent seen other people carrying them at the last game. EVERYONE should have one. They are like 88 cents piece and make a world of difference.

Usually they hand some kind of towel for games like this too. Hopefully they will. Looks awesome when the whole stadium is waving those around. I wish they would make them red though instead of white.

Gimme a break... I've been to plenty of other stadiums, arenas and ballparks. There isn't one - with the possible exception of Yankee Stadium, than stays loud the entire game.
As far as I'm concerned UoP gets as loud as any other sporting venue I have ever been to. The post season last year ranks at the very top, second only to a few Yankee World Series games, of crowd noise experiences I have ever been a part of. And the game against the 9ers this season was very, very respectable. The team sucked, not the fans!

UoP stadium CAN be one of the loudest EVER. Has the potential to be one of the LOUDEST. But it just falls short. The fans as a whole just arent schooled enough yet IMO.

I agree they can be loud for the whole game nor should they be. But like Brian said you have fans that are trying to be loud when we are on offense.

There was a time during the 49er game when they were back inside their own 10 yard line and the crowd didnt even begin to get loud until the QB was already under center for a good .5 seconds. That to me is unacceptable and should NEVER be. When the other teams O is on the field that crowd should be screaming from the second they are in the huddle till the ball is snapped.

It wasnt like that during the playoffs. It shouldnt be like that in the regular season either. The crowd is usually pretty good for a night time primetime game though so this one should be good to go.

Both of you are right. The crowd thinks that it should cheer on its team on a 4th and short for example when they are supposed to be quiet.

We need to train the casual fan when and how to act. That's all.

I shouldn't do this as it always crumbles into something stupid, but.... I gotta ask. Have you, or Brian, or anyone else who feels the need to take shots at the fans in UoP, ever been a season ticket holder for another team, in another city, in any sport?
Have you ever been a regular attendee even for any other team in any other sport in any other city in the country??

Season ticket holder? No. Only in UofP.

Been to any other sporting events? Many.

Sorry but you cant explain away the situation that I gave you when the niners were on O in their own 10 yard line. That just doesnt happen in Seattle's Quest field and many others. Just doesnt. Just to many clueless people in that building. Its a fact. I commend them for going but phoenix just has to many yuppy fans that yell at you for standing up and being loud etc..... Same crowd that atternds those Suns games and gets mad at you when you stand in excitement.

There was an opposing team behind me that got pissed off because I was standing on defense. I told him to stand up or get over it. I was sure that he was going to use that stupid ass text line against me, but Linda asked me to switch seats instead. I'm not sure she even knew what was going on.

Hell yeah. It will take a few more years of winning before we can replace all of these opposing fans.

I figured...

Look Shane, I am not gonna argue away your contention that there are clueless fans in UoP - 'cuz there are. But if you think that cancer doesn't exist elsewhere, in other cities and stadiums, you are dead wrong... I've been to more than 200 Yankee games. More than 100 Jets games. About half those amounts of Mets, Knicks and Giants games. I've been to roughly 30 Cubs games. Been to at least 20 Oriole games. At least 20 Mariner games. And I can GUARANTEE to you that the clueless fan virus is not at all a Phoenix illness. It is everywhere!
It's easy to take shots at Phoenix and it's fans because for decades the Cards have sucked, and of course, there is virtually no recognized tradition of fandom and winning. So, if the team hasn't ever won, the fans therefore have never seen a winner, and therefore don't know how to cheer for a winner.
When in reality, I encountered more clueless ******** at Yankee Stadium and Wrigley than I have ever encountered at UoP.
I have absolutely NO issues with the fans at UoP. None. I love the folks that sit around me in Section 102. They bring it every week and they Rock! And IMNHO, the fans in general do an amazing job with regard to the noise. Way more than I would have ever expected.

So, how about we all help to make it better and louder. I know there are fans that need some help understanding, but I would rather have them there than a fan from the opposition.

The thread is not about Adrian Wilson and Darnell Dockett criticizing the fans for being uneducated. They were very specific: "make noise when the Colts' offense is on the field". This helps with the education of all without being critical.

I wont argue that there are many clueless fans in other places. I have attended many many many other games and sporting events in my life but nowhere near as many as you so I will defer. But just so you know Yankee fans as a whole are just clueless? ;o) I keed I keed!

No really I agree that for the most part a large % of the fans are good. But there was distinct differences in the crowd from the playoffs to the first reg season game this year. Now I know its not rocket science and that IS TO BE EXPECTED. However in the right situations the crowd should be able to get up and let it out much like the one I described above. In those instances that crowd should never be QUIET and I mean NEVER. Thats where they need to be schooled better and hopefully soon. there are plenty of styadiums where that just wouldnt happen.
