The Arizona Cardinals select Antrell Rolle. Anybody else watching the game last night wondering what our defense would look like if we'd picked Shawne Merriman instead? I realize it's hindsight I had him on my list for us but we all knew we were taking a CB because we needed one. But man does Merriman look like he's going to have a hell of a career and what impact. Imagine him in Clancy's system?

Eh, imagine if we had Tomlinson, or Urlacher, or Suggs, or Manning, or Manning, or Manning Jr (not really on the last one, just wanted to make a gag).

Don't give up on Rolle just yet. From my viewpoint, this is pretty much his rookie year -- and I think he's going to be a good player if given time.

And I'll care about Merriman when I see him wearing Cardinal red.

I also wanted Merriman. He is the real deal. Rolle should improve as the season progresses. Let's hope he shuts down Deion Branch this weekend.

lol, I was thinking exactly the same thing. Guy would be an absolute beast on the Cards D. I bet Clancy was think about Merriman after his game last night. I've also watched Demarcus Ware from Dallas and thought he would fit in well here too.

Or if we had drafted Dan Marino. Or if we had drafted Terrell Davis. Or about a gazillion other what-ifs.

As Satchel Paige once said - "Don't look back." You can't revise history so why bitch and moan about it?

To be clear, I'm not saying Merriman was the guy I thought we should pick I had him on my list of guys to consider but it was apparent we were picking a CB and of the 3 I would say we probably picked the right one(clearly not getting pacman).

Just saying in hindsight Merriman appears to be arguably the best player in that draft certainly the best defensive player.

It was Rolle or Rogers (CB - WAS). Pac-Man wasn't on our list.

I would rather dream about the guy picked right after Merriman. Jammaal Brown is already one of the better RTs in the league.

Brown is good, maybe I'm overrating Merriman because of last night but he seems like he's going to turn the NFL on its ear.

Just unblockable at times.

And you gotta love his "BULL SWEEP" of the feet after getting a sack.

What if they had passed on Boldin because they had just taken BJohnson in the first round in 2003?

I think Rolle is going to be the third best defensive player on this team by the halfway point. I know that doesnt equate to Merriman but at least we dont have another DB BUST aka T.Knight

(Rolle may lead our team in tackles if not he will be second he is a ground ball hawk)
