With two Great Players (even though young) Why aren't the Suns better?

This would be a case of "desperate times call for stupid measures".

Barkley was a great player, he's entertaining on television, but I have no doubt he'd be the first player to trade away a star player because he wrote the wrong name when submitting a trade to the league office.

He's a clown and he is almost always wildly incorrect in his prognostications.

I love the segment they do on Inside the NBA where they quiz Barkley on if a player is still in the NBA and what team he plays for. He basically strikes out every time it's done. Barkley may know how to play basketball himself but he would be the last TV personality I would hire to run a team. As bad as it may be I would prefer Stephen A Smith or Skip Bayless to Barkley. At least they try to stay current on league happenings.

Putting Barkley in charge of our change of identity would announce to the NBA and all of its fans that the Phoenix Suns days of being a passive, gimmick team are over.

Barkley himself would be the ultimate gimmick. No team without a history with him would consider hiring him for any sort of role outside of color commentator. There is nothing he's displayed on his time on Inside the NBA that would indicate he would be a quality front office executive.

I'm not even sure he would tell Sarver off, which is the true reason you want him as GM. You want someone who will tell Sarver he sucks and to stay away, regardless of other qualifications. The problem there is you have zero clue what happens behind closed doors. Barkley may mock Sarver when he's on TV now but if he were his employee I suspect that would change. One thing Barkley loves more than talking is money and Sarver would be the guy signing the checks. I have no doubt that if he paid Barkley enough the Chuckster would gladly endorse Sarver on national TV.

We've been hoping the suns can get a key free agent or hit a couple good drafts in a row. Free agent wise, they are taking the leftovers from other teams, no game changing signings.

The drafting has been better lately, but for all the bad seasons, we still don't have much to show for it.

Actually IMO Barkley would be good for telling people how it is and take a no nonsense approach to the team. Where it would fall apart is when Sarver doesn’t want to spend money on the coach he wants or something.

That’s when Barkley’s mouth gets him fired by Sarver. Chuck wouldn’t hesitate to blast Sarver in public IMO.

Watched the Kings against the Jazz on Wednesday night. A fun, young team. Because they play hard and have a rotation of 9 "NBA" players. Gave the Jazz fits. But it also took time and patience to get here.

We are a good young fun team...then we get lazy.

We gave good runs to the Celtics, Raptors, Spurs, 76ers and then get worked by the Nets and Bulls.

To me this is all about effort. You watch those games and see the Suns flying around diving on the floor playing all out then watch the Bulls game and it's a damn lay up drill. The effort in that Bulls game was down right pathetic. Out scored 22-4 in the paint in the 3rd to let them back in the game.

That's just effort.

Don't even get me started on Igor

Fox is turning into a nice point guard. Wish the Suns could have a do over. The same with the traded Bogdanovic.

Until the last year or so the Kings FO was approximately as bad as ours. What happened? It's like fleecing us in the Chriss deal was a springboard to sanity for them. Or is it something we can imitate?

From a distance I'd say in addition to us making them look good in the Chriss trade, the decision to move on from Cousins so as to avoid the super max along with hiring Joerger were also strong decisions.

Apparently they're on the verge of firing Joerger because he's not playing Bagley enough. If they do that, at any point this year, they will revert to their regular levels of stupidity.

I almost mentioned this but I figured even they couldn't be this stupid.
