This will be a tough group. USA may be winning but they aren't exactly sharp right now.

They played a lot better in the second half. Seemed like the Aussies ran out of gas near the 70th minute mark or so. US just seemed to be moving faster than the Aussies.

Next match Friday against Sweden. Sweden is coached by the USA's former coach so it should be a good one.

Australia was the better team the first half and I agree with Zeno. It wasn't a match after 60th minute or so.

Rapinoe was the best player on the pitch last night, even if you took away her two goals. Abby wasn't right last night and it showed. If Morgan is healthy, she needs to start up top besides Leroux.

I'd be curious how much of the US possession was on the left side--it seemed like a lot of the game was played there. The only criticism I had of Rapinoe all night was her crosses were not up to par--she is normally pretty stellar in that area but she was off target on pretty much all of them.

I think Abby's plan to not play in the women's league to save herself for the WC may have backfired. She did not look sharp. I think she still can be effective but she might be best suited to coming off the bench instead of starting.

The good thing about the US is they have really good depth.

I'd say they had a deliberate play to go up the left side because it seemed like 75%. I wonder if the turf is playing a part in the crossing. It wasn't sharp at all for most of the game. Australia hurt the US by playing the ball on the ground.

I forgot about the turf angle, you are probably right. That probably is a factor.

Hmmm good point about the turf. I find it strange that espn isn't having an outside the lines on that during the world cup instead of hope solo. If they want to take the equal gender route why not go there instead of reporting on a story that happened so long ago. All I heard on espn radio today was well we didn't watch the game yesterday but let's talk about the hope solo case.

I just saw this from my TV listings site for 11:30 on Fox sports one.

Friendly: Germany vs. United States

What does "Friendly" mean? Is it an exhibition during the WWC?

Women back on the field tonight against Sweden!

I wonder if Alex Morgan is fit enough to start.

Tough match, a win almost guarantees advancing but a draw would not be that bad overall.
