Wonderkid agrees Chelsea transfer – Fabrizio Romano

Chelsea are wasting no time in getting their summer business sorted as they have reportedly wrapped up the signing of another Sporting CP gem.

Just days after securing a deal for Geovany Quenda. It was reported by Fabrizio Romano that the Blues were set to sign Quenda, with the Portuguese winger due to arrive at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2026.

Now, however, there’s also been further information on the deal from the Athletic, who add that Manchester United were also keen on Ruben Amorim’s former player.

Romano reports that Chelsea are optimistic about getting a deal done for around €22 million. What remains unclear is whether Essugo will join up with the first team at Stamford Bridge, head to Ligue 1 side Strasbourg, the Blues’ sister club, or stay at Sporting on loan like Quenda.

Regardless of where he starts, Essugo fits the profile of Chelsea’s long-term recruitment strategy under BlueCo. A Portugal U21 international, he made 25 senior appearances for Sporting before heading to Spain, and his potential has clearly caught Chelsea’s eye.
