Im going straight to the WS forget the playoffs.

Imma say:

Red Sox over StL Cardinals.

I would go with the Astros, but I believe they have had a long run and might be out of gas. Wouldnt surprise me if they went though. As far as the Red Sox over Stl Cardinals, I dont believe they have the pitching required to win it all.

Have at it.

I understand the Baseball Cardinal hate, but why the 'Stros?

He's jealous of their bullpen. I said Astros/Angels preseason so I guess I'll go with that again even though at this point I'd rather take the Cards/Red Sox.

Cards win it all. Don' t be hatin the Cards. Their rotation is better than anyone has given em credit for all year long. I think Red Sox vs Cards woudl be a great series.

WHAT! What rotation you watching? StL is all offense. Seriously, is Woody Williams the answer? I dont think so. Consider Pedro, Schilling and Lowe.. with Ramirez and the crew from last year its just as equal if not better than StL offense. Seriously. This is the Red Sox year.

You must not watch baseball. Go look up where St Louis's rotation ranks in era.

EDIT: Cards rank second in lowest era. Only Atlanta has a lower era and its by .01

Those are the two teams I'd pick, too. Not sure who I'd pick to win...haven't been following MLB that much lately. But I think it would be great for the Boston fans and Saint Louis fans.

Gee's right. The Cards' staff isn't that great, it's good. It's the St. Louis offense and defense that makes them look great.

You obviously know nothing about baseball if you don't think being ahead in games doesn't help ypur pitchers. Not to mention all the extra energy used by the opponent chasing Pujols' gappers. I was never bagging on teh Cards staff, I just don't think it's as dominant as others do, just good with a great defense behind it.

I guess I know nothign about baseball.

If you are a bad pitcher you will give up runs plain and simple. These guys arent giving up runs. I dont care how great your defense is a bad pitcher will give up homers and base hits.
and omg if your trying to use running around a little bit as tiring out opposing batters and making lousy pitchers give up less runs then your right someone here knows nothing about baseball.

-Having a good defense behind you doesn't affect a pitcher's ERA.

-Being stuck in the field chasing after doubles for twenty minutes doesn't affect a batter in the next half innning.

-Pitching with a big lead does not help a pitcher.

All points you made that would be discredited by basically every baseball guy in the country. Remind me not to argue with you over baseball anymore. Oh, and I never said anything about St. Louis' pitchers being lousy. I said they are good, not dominant (their strikeouts help prove that point).

Not on such a grand scale no. it wont take a last place era staff and vault them to 2nd. no. Not ever. Not even if spiderman was playing defense.

never saw a defense chasing doubles for 20 minutes. It may have happened once or twice in the league but not as often as you make it sound like. I watched all the cards games just about. And they havent had a single game where the opposing defense was out there every inning chasing balls for 20 minutes.

Helps them win of course. But its not like the cards are up at bat first every game and score 5 runs in the 1st inning every game. Most of the time they dont break out till the 5th 6th inning.

So yes I think every knowledgable baseball fan would give you two  for your argument.

After this I'm done with this nonsensical argument.

First, defense can affect a team's ERA. Just look at the Red Sox before and after the Nomar-Cabrera/Mientchevitz trade. BAA, ERA, and unearned runs went way down due to the improvement in the field.

Second, if you don't think there's a correlation between long half-innings and the opponents performance in the following half-inning, you're kidding yourself.

Third, if you don't believe me about the Cards staff, feel free to look up the Cards' DIPS, a stat used to determine pitchers ERA independent of the defense behind them. Do this and you'll find St. Louis to be in the middle of the pack in the National League. Like I said, it's the Cards defense, not the domination of the staff (10th in the NL in Ks) that makes these pitchers look so good.
