Hogwash. Not only did that draft class feature those three--two of whom have been to the Pro Bowl, but also Tavaris Jackson, Charlie Whitehurst, and Bruce Gradkowski. If you have a draft class that produces six quarterbacks who start games in the NFL, that's pretty good.



C'mon, now. There were questions about whether or not Mike Vick could/would re-define the quarterback position in the NFL (and I'd argue that he might have, but we'll have to wait a few more years), but no question that he was worthy of the #1 pick in the NFL draft. Drew Brees had concerns about his size and college system, but it's difficult to argue about a draft class featuring a guy who was going to win the Super Bowl.

Don't know what you're talking about with Eli Manning. That 2001 draft class also had Sage Rosenfels, Quincy Carter, Mike McMahan, and A.J. Feely.

Why is Geno Smith a better prospect than Blaine Gabbert or Jake Locker or Chrisian Ponder? I can't say for sure that this draft class could come in and take those guys' job from Day One, much less Mark Sanchez and Kevin Kolb.

If your draft class doesn't feature a single prospect who's clearly an upgrade over Kevin Kolb, your draft class is pretty terrible.

Of course now that you've written this at least 3 of this years QBs will become full time starters in the NFL. I'm not buying anything you say since you talked me off the Daryl Washington bandwagon.

In talking about the 2006 draft class I'd say it was one of the most disappointing. With all 3 of the top picks failing with the team that drafted them.

And his 50% completion percentage? There were plenty of questions about him. Yes he was/went number 1 but there was a lot of discusson if he could make it in the NFL.

I am just saying there are a lot of so called 'weak classes' that turn out to have pretty good QB's in them.

And yes I think Smith is better than Locker, Kolb, Skelton, Ponder, and Tannehill. But we will have to wait and see.

I went with 2002 because of where those guys were drafted. Carr and Harrington were top 5 picks and Ramsey, I think, was also a 1st rounder and none of thne really did a thing. Overall production may have been worse from the Banks class but Hoying was not a 1st round pick.

I still like Tyler Wilson and Ryan Nassib, but I wouldn't be shocked if Sean Renfree is the best QB that comes out of this class. It looks to be terrible on the surface though I am far from an expert in regards to projecting college QBs to the NFL.

I agree 100%. Renfree has as good a chance as any of these guys to emerge. It's a total crapshoot this year. I can even see EJ Manuel being the one to emerge. You can almost make a case for any of the top 8-10 QB's as being the best in the class.
