Would you guys be happy if the Cards pick Cutler?

I think the guy is going to be a very good quarterback. Anyone who can win at Vanderbilt has to have some talent.

By the way, a guy at work thinks Cutler is going to be another Kelly Stoufer. Do you guys think that?

Who won at Vanderbilt? Cutler certainly did not. Not to say that he can't win in the NFL, but he won nothing in college.

It would be a very mixed feeling for me.

I wouldn't explode into a horrible ball of fire if he was our selection, but I won't be jumping up and down for joy ether.

I like his arm strength and gamer attitude, but his footwork and mechanics are going to need work.

But overall we could do worse.

I think Cutler could do well with the Cards. Warner would be an excellent mentor. But there are other players that I like better. Just don't know who will be there.

Uhhhh, we don't have no paramedics, but we do have some guys in white suits with straight jackets. Can we use them instead?:D

No, he is a reach at 10. He's a good QB, but we can get a better player that will be ready to play this year at 10. Cutler has been described by those who are less than huge fans of his as a good QB who caves under a lot of pressure. If things are going his way, he plays well. If things start to fall apart, he starts to make bad decisions. If we had the 15th-20th pick and he was there, I say take him, but there is better bang for the buck. If the Cardinals really want him, they could probably trade down to 14 and still get him.

I will support which ever player the Cardinals pick at 10 until such time that a player gives me reason on the field not to. I call this the Calvin Pace effect.

I will try to avoid preset judgements, which will only taint my opinions while watching said player play. I call this the McCown effect.

I understand that few rookies have the kind of impact that fans expect and I realize that it takes a few years to see how worthwhile a draft pick is, regardless of position. I call this the Darwin Walker effect.

I also don't feel that a subscription to Scouts Inc, a couple draft magazines, and watching a handful of college games makes me more knowledgable than the team scouts, who have been very successful as of late. I call this the arizonasportsfans effect.

I will do is have a few beers enjoy the draft.

Indifferent.

Not the best choice right now, but a good choice long-term. I'm not that high no Cutler, but if the coaching staff like his abilities, then I'm okay with it. They are afterall the professionals - not me.

I'd rather get Young, the Tight-end Davis, Simms or Williams.
If those 4 are gone, I hope we get Bush, Leinhart, Justice or Ferguson.

If we get Cultler, we got the 10th best player in the draft. I'm hoping somebody before us screws up. :D

Maybe

It seems there are question marks about just about everybody who'd be available at #10 overall. The can't miss prospects seem to run out at about #8.

The way it looks now, here's my choices in order....

1. Justice
2. Bunkley
3. Sims
4. Greenway
5. Cutler

Of course, if Huff, or Davis fall to us, they are my choice and I'd be doing cartwheels.

Cutler

There are three schools of thought concerning him:

1. The school headed up by Mike Mayock that says he's one of the best (in fact the best) of the QB's coming out.
2. The school headed up by Mel Kiper, Jr. that says he's over hyped and not in the class of Leinart and Young.
3. The school headed up by most of the other experts that says he's somewhere in between.

And I've come to the conclusion that one of them is correct. Although I was never very good in school.

Justice would be good.

If we have to pick from the others I'd rather go with Cutler.

Some of you guys would crap your pants if Huff was there and we picked Cutler. I like Huff but Cutler would be decent as well. I watched the Senior Bowl last night and thought he did well against top flight competetion....although I thought Whitehurst looked about the same. The other QB's didn't do much for me.

Definitely yes. I plan on being a Cards fan 5 years from now and would love to see a QB in place who isn't a stopgap. Warner, this year and next or until he busts and Cutler as his backup. It is time.

I wouldn't because I don't think Cutler is that much better than QB's that are going to be available in later rounds.

But then in this draft that could be said about most players at most of the positions. Not all, but most.

With Warner signed for a couple more years, I think drafting Culter, the third rated player at his position, at pick 10 is a stupid idea.

I'd rather take someone in the 3rd or 4th round, let them learn the game behind Warner for a few years, at 1/10 the salary.

We should bring in one of the semi-used up vets that remain on the market for training camp, ala Collins. Play Navarre for most of the preseason just to see what we've got. If it looks like Navarre can fill in when Warner inevitably goes down for a few games, then cut Collins at the end of camp. If not, release Navarre, and whom-ever we pick up in the draft gets a few years to try and learn the game.

I was open to drafting Big Ben a few years ago, because he lifted Miami-Ohio to a respectable level. Vanderbilt suffers a lot of the same problems as Ben's program, but Rothlesburger was able to win, while Jay didn't.

There are good reasons QBs go in the 3rd or 4th round. Most of which aren't good.
