I think I would. His attitude with teammates doesn't seem nearly as bad as the media wants to make it look like.
He is friends with the Suns coaching staff, at least Tim Grguric. When he was with Portland he was in the Suns locker after the game.

He already proved he can play very well with Zach Randolph so he could very well with Amare Stoudemire.

He can shoot, pass and is a great defender. He brings toughness and fire.

He says his decision will be based on what his wife wants and what he wants.

Detroit will likely not have enough money to sign Wallace and Okur. So if you offered Wallace a good contract and the Pistons matched it you wouldn't have to overpay as much for Okur.

C- Wallace
PF- Amare
SF- Marion
SG/PG JJ and draftpick?

If we keep White and Eisley. We would probably have 12M$ capspace after the draft. So we would still have enough to resign McDyess and Vujanic.

Rasheed turns 30 in September, btw.

i think that the type of person that wallace is can be shown in an act that he did with bonzi wells the day before wells was traded to memphis. wallace was at one end of the court with wells and said here watch this. he grabed a ball and threw it at the other end of the court where a teammate was practicing knocking his feet out from under him. as people rushed to help the injured teammate, wells and wallace laughed at his good shot.

now is this the type of person you want to bring in? i dont care what skills he has on the court, he would be a true cancer in the lockerroom at least until white or amare beat the stuffing out of him.

And Amare Stoudemire supposedly slapped Maciej Lampe in practice.

And Kenyon Martin and Richard Jefferson made a joke about Alonzo Mournings condition.

Watching Rasheed Wallace play with his teams it doesn't seem like his teammates have any problems with him and his ex-teammates didn't say anything negative at all as far as I can remember.

Btw, another interessting idea would be Gary Payton. He is old but he can still play and can mentor Barbosa and Vujanic. And like Rasheed Wallace he is close with Tim Grguric.
For the rights price Gary Payton could be good. Think 3 years/18M$ maybe and Rasheed Wallace 5 years/40M$.

If we traded White and the Cavs pick to Charlotte we could have maybe

C- Rasheed Wallace/Maciej Lampe/Jake Voshkul
PF- Amare Stoudemire/Antonio McDyess
SF- Shawn Marion/Zarko Cabarkapa
SG- Joe Johnson/Casey Jacobsen
PG- Gary Payton/Leandro Barbosa
+ our lottery pick who could be pretty much anyone
And keep Vujanic in europe for another year instead of tryint to buyout his current contract. Judging by comments Vujanic makes to italian media he wants to stay until his contract is up anyway.

Not to mention we would probably still have enough capspace to make some deals.
~20M$ after we trade White.
-2M$ for our first round pick
-7M$ for Rasheed Wallace
- 5M$ for Gary Payton
- 2M$ for Antonio McDyess

We could probably sign and trade say Casey Jacobsen for Brent Barry or Jake Voshkul for Mark Blount or something like that.

Can't wait for the offseason.

i wouldnt mind bring in payton to help barbosa, but only if milos wont be coming over.

as for wallace there isnt a bigger anti-JC player in the nba except for maybe AI . clark hasnt even been seen in pheonix because of drug problems and this is a player who we are paying why in the world would the team bring in another player who has more problems? when it comes to drugs and the suns if you have done them then you can count on not being a part of this team.

There's absolutely no way the Phoenix Suns would sign Wallace. Someone will offer him more money, and he's got to know he's better back East anyways. It's just not going to happen.

Gary Payton? That guy is one of the biggest locker room cancers in the NBA. Karl Malone has been my most hated NBA player for quite some time, but this season I think Gary Payton has passed him. I can't stand him. I guarantee he's not coming here either.

Only Denver maybe.

You may be right. The Phoenix Suns might BE ABLE to offer more than other teams would. They won't though. I guarantee that the Phoenix Suns are not even talking about Rasheed Wallace.

Not No, but HELL No. Rasheed would be the worst move the Suns could possibly make. Luckily The Colangelo's have stated that they aren't interested.

You can't always limit yourself to nice guys and easy characters and expect to win a championship.
Is Rasheed Wallace attitude any worse than Charles Barkley ? Or Dennis Rodman?

I cant believe you just put Barkley and Wallace in the same category. Barkley never did drugs, picked on teammates, or forgot the main goal of playing in the NBA. To win. Barkley and KJ might not have saw eye to eye, but they had a common goal. Barkley was in trouble with the law due to others picking fights with him and wanting to get money from him. He won all his cases in a court of law. Sure he could have not went out, but he always said that other people are not gonna dictate how he lives his life. When Barkley said something in the media, he believed it had merit. He didnt accept to do an interview, then answer every question childishly by repeating, "it was a good game, everyone played hard".

Its two totally different people. But, I gaurentee you JC wont even consider Rasheed.

Won't Detroit be able to offer Wallace a pretty sum, assuming they cut Okur loose? If the Pistons do well in the playoffs, I think it's very likely that Wallace will stay put.

I would consider Wallace except for one problem, which is that he isn't a center. "Can play center in the East" isn't what the Suns need. If they're going to go with a double-PF lineup, there are lots of options more attractive and viable than Wallace.

I also thought of Payton. I didn't realize he was such a locker-room problem. He doesn't like losing and he wants to be an important player on his team. It seems that that could be said for most great players. I think Payton could teach this team a lot about defense and, frankly, attitude. His game is no longer at an All-Star level, but he's a heck of a lot better than any PG the Suns currently have or are likely to acquire this summer.

No way. Not in this life, and not in the next.

Do you have in mind whose jock you're going to ride next week? These weekly "trade for" or "sign" players threads are becoming quite humorous. Just like our own little piece of the ESPN world.

Thats exactly what I been thinkin for the last couple weeks. Slin has all these ideas. When he decides he likes a player, aint no telling him different. Heck, I want Michael Finley back. But I aint starting a thread about it, or even trying to get people to want him back. Oh well, slin is truley a piece of work.

Smoking pot isn't worse than simply smoking or drinking.

Barkley got drunk and threw people through windows.

Why is Payton such a locker room cancer now all of a sudden? Because he publicly criticized his role in the triangle offense?

Tim Grguric worked well with Wallace and Payton before. He was Payton's mentor.
I am sure there wouldn't be a lot of attitude problems. Payton and Wallace are very good players and team player on the court.

Personally not. But quite some friends of mine do regularly.

In some countries you can legally purchase and smoke it, Netherlands for example.

I don't think you have an imagination of how many people do. I'd bet that at least 75% of kids older than 13 or so have at least tried it.

Smoking pot isn't the same as doing cocaine or heroin. It's less addictive than alcool or cigarettes.

Rasheed Wallace seems to be beloved by his teammates...

...which is just one more reason to keep him away from the Suns.

I think 'Sheed might be best off staying in Detroit--he's definitely a Larry Brown kind of player. If $7m is the best offer he can get, though, he could easily say "$%#& it" and go to the Knicks for the MLE.

If you owned a company, would you hire someone that came back positive for Pot in a drug test? The difference between Pot and Cigerettes and Alcohol, is Pot is illegal. It also hinders the way a person thinks. When a person is High he/she isn't able to think clearly or perform to his/her best. There is a major difference between Pot and Cigerettes and Alcohol. To also clarify, I would fire anyone that showed up to work after having drunk alcohol as well, for the same reasons that I stated happens to a persons brain when he/she is High.

Pot doesn't effect the way people think to the extent of alcohol. In fact, marijuana tends to improve concentration I am pretty sure. However, it severly affects reaction time. It isn't just during use either, it has lingering affects until it is flushed from your system.

FYI, alcohol isn't overly addicitive. Most alcoholics have problems from genetics, not from over consumption.

That said, I would rather have a person who drinks regularly on my team than a pot head. Forget PR value (a regular drinker is more prone to DUIs, so I say the chances of both getting caught is relatively equal), marijuana will simply effect the player's game for a long period of time. If someone goes out drinking, they may drag ass for the next game if they are hung over. If a player regularly smokes weed, he will almost always drag ass.

edit: An example for you. My friend was the best swimmer at my HS his senior year. He said anytime he would smoke a day or two before a meet, when he jumped in the water he could just feel his lungs struggle. This is a kid who has swam his entire life, and has pretty strong lungs. According to him, it wasn't anything you could shrug off, it noticeably affected his time.

That's funny. My friend is a smoker, and smokes pot regularly also and he is more athletic than me and doesn't have any conditioning problems.

Rasheed Wallace doesn't seem to have conditioning problems either. He is already at a star player level.
Smoking pot or not. He is a good player either way.

He's also a player without a real set position. Is he a small forward? We already have one. A power forward? We already have one. A center? He's too short for that position AND he would never be happy playing center in the Western Conference. Short of us trading away Shawn Marion, Rasheed Wallace would never agree to a contract with the Phoenix Suns, even if we offered one.

Rasheed is 6'11 and has very long arms. He is more of a center than anything we have.
He is like a better version of Cliff Robinson I would say.

Again, he WOULD NEVER agree to a contract to play center in the Western Conference. He didn't like playing that position on the Blazers (when Dale Davis was on the bench), and he certainly wouldn't like it here. If I remember correctly, he didn't even like playing PF (Zach Randolph played there), SF is his preferred position, not center.
