Some dude started right off with "Fan base is really upset that you left Ryan in there during the second half."
They said "By your own criteria and standards, you benched John for the same throw." They asked him questions about the QBs (same questions) and it seemed like they were trying to bait him. Asked him about his job concerns. Brought up Lindley again. Asked him if he lost confidence in Skelton, Whiz said "I wouldn't say that." Kolb still not 100%. They will talk about starters all week.

Media is starting to turn on the Whiz. Wolfley (my guess) is still kissing booty, bringing up the PP pick. :D Good listen today, they were finally coming at him but the intensity died down. My quotes are probably off a bit, but you get the message.

Meh... Whiz is robotic. That's good and bad I guess....

"Missed opportunities"

"Kevin needs to be able to take a hit"

"Defense played well"

"Missed assignments"

"Need to practice and prepare better"

The media will never be able to get him off his game. Bottom line though, the NFL is only about W's. Period.

Has there ever been a NFL coach who strung together 3 straigth season of 6 game losing streaks (of course, we're at 8 and counting at present)? Let along survived such putridness??

This is good as Whis has made some poor decisions and should come under fire for them. Again, I don't believe it is in the team's best interest to fire him, but I think they (the organization) need to hear some very critical views on the team's moves that haven't worked. They need to understand that this ISN'T acceptable and that they are EXPECTED to make the appropriate moves in the offseason to correct it. Everyone makes mistakes, those who are worth keeping just don't make the same ones over and over again, and we are getting dangerously close to that category.

He just said something about "you don't know what's going on behind the scenes" and there was NO FOLLOW-UP.

"What IS going on, Coach? Ownership? Dumb players? Bad GM? Loosing attitude among the players? Lazy players? Poor coaching? Coach arguing with the FO?"

Sorry, Dawg. These guys aren't being tough on him. They're asking the same questions over and over again.

I think they just asked him for the 4th time when Kolb would be ready. And there's the third question about Calais. And it got the same answer as the first two times.

"When Kevin is healthy we will face that decision, or cross that bridge."

WTF does that mean...?

Is he saying the season will be long lost by the time Kolb is healthy? And that it would only mess up our draft pick? He said he wishes he had Kevin, and then says he doesn't even know if he will play him once Kolb is ready to go? This dude and Reid gotta lot in common. He backtracks on quarterbacks so much, he forgets. I think he knows he can't start Lindley this week, but I thought we would have at least...nevermind. :D

You can work the refs a little bit if you tweet at Kent Somers. If you frame the criticism the right way, it does get under his skin. Darren Urban can't really do/say anything, but Somers can if you let him know there's a market for the story.

Maybe Jurecki can, too. I have no idea whether he goes to the pressers.

To be fair to these guys, their job at the pressers isn't to let Whis know you're pissed off. If you give them a chance to tell a story, they're more likely to latch on to it.

The entire football world thinks Whis messed up by not replacing Ryan Lindley. It's not second-guessing because it was obvious that Ryan was totally ineffective. Whis can try to shift some of the blame to the receivers and that is true to an extent especially with Michael Floyd, but Lindley could have been throwing to Jerry Rice and Lynn Swann in their prime and not done any better IMO.

I'm ready to move on now, but Whis cost the Cardinals a win yesterday and he has to know that.

Their job is to ask the tough questions.

What we learned via the questions he was asked:

Kolb isn't ready.
Calais can't push off.
He decided not to put Skelton in.
The receivers didn't run their routes.
He didn't expect Beanie to come back at full strength and figured it would take him a while.
He addressed Skelton previously so he wasn't going to talk about that.
Lindley made a couple of nice passes.
He knows the fans are disappointed. He is too.
They're going to look at film.
They're going to look at film today.
They're going to look at film today and try and figure out what went wrong.

Floyd has been an issue all year not just with the route running but with lining up incorrectly and constantly having to be moved by the QB's, when the QB caught that he was lined up incorrectly.

Whiz has been on him about that all year you can see it in games and he's hinted at it in pressers several times.

Do I think that's why Lindley looked so bad no, but there is a reason he pointed that out because it's one of those details that drives him nuts.

The other side of that coin is Floyd showed real promise again, that one catch on the sideline was unreal. With more playing time he has definitely showed more promise.

I think it is awesome how "wide receivers" would somehow "not run their routes"

How did such a collective effort take place? Did no one go to them at some point and tell them to start running routes? Why did they refuse?

Well this should help soothe some peoples anger, having to watch that as a requirement for your job would be horrible.

Watching it live was bad enough, watching it knowing how it ends is on this side of inhumane treatment IMO.

No. It is not. Their job is to write stories for the morning's paper, and to get quotes from the head coach to drop into those stories. That's their job. If they piss off the coach, then the next time they have to write a feature, he might say no. That's a real concern for your average beat reporter (who have the force of progress breathing down their neck, as well as 10,000 graduating college Journo majors willing to worth for (almost) nothing.

Once they get a quote for their story, they don't have anything else to say. It's a shame for us fans, but when it's only Bickley and Somers covering the team on the day-to-day, that's what happens.

I agree to a point, they gotta stay in good standings so they can continue to do their job and not get black balled. But if said reporter believes that Whiz is on his way out, and if said reporter doesn't just want to be a team banner the rest of his writing career, this is about the time to start asking some tougher questions and not let him wobble out of it with the normal set of Whizcuses.

It's too bad Whiz isn't being grilled like he would in a more demanding sports town. :(

After seeing yesterday's game, I don't think Whiz and company know what is going on either.

Michael reminds me of Dez Bryant albeit as a less talented overall receiver. Dez makes some idiotic mistakes at times, e.g. lining up wrong, but he is such a dynamic component, that he is a difference-maker. Floyd could develop into a solid #2 receiver with decent QB play in my opinion. He's another guy whose development has been slowed because of inept quarterback play this season. That catch he made on the sideline was brilliant.

Which was me once upon a time.

Just as well I'm not doing it anymore. Because I'd have been yelling questions at Whiz as they escorted me to the parking lot. (Then written a story about having to soft-ball questions to a loosing coach and doesn't that stink considering this isn't exactly a major market.)

Edit to add a HILARIOUS story if I wanted to keep my job.

To talk about the subject.

He deserves to get grill, and we deserve better answers than he is giving.

If Whiz is going to coach poorly he has to answer questions better than that.

That game yesterday was a disgrace to the game of modern football. It was an embarrassment. He has to take responsibility for it, and answer questions. He put himself in the position to have his thinking question, and ask for justification for his decisions.

The coach should be feeling very lucky he is the coach of the Cardinals cause any other coach would be fired for what they did yesterday.

The questions on why you would start and keep Lindley in are more than justified and should be answered. They are tough questions for sure, but that is the NFL.

The press is not here to care about Whiz’s feelings. He never answered why Skelton was benched, and when justifiably asked about it after this game, he said he already answered that question ?

Unreal. Now Whiz is lying to justify his highly debatable moves ?

He has only said in regards to Skelton, that he was making the best decision to put the team in a place to win. Now that the situation has blown up in his face, Lindley sure as heck doesn’t seem like the guy who is best to give this team a chance to win. Debatable ? Sure. But thus why it is being questioned.

That is not being a professional in the media. Not to mention how unfair this is to the team.

One of the main facets of this team that is not getting the job done is the coaching. I justify that remark by saying how poorly this team has done in the second half of games this year.

8 games in a row is the most since 1991. If this squad loses 9 in a row that will be the longest streak in 70 years.

You could say “Same Ol’ Cardinals” but it would be an insult to the Same Ol’ Cardinals. They were never this bad.

ESPN spent most the morning laughing about this game. I had people over to watch football, and had to apologize to them for having to watch that game.

It doesn't help. I have a friend who's a reporter and over the years he's asked several college basketball questions that essentially came from me. All he got was coaches angry at him, or players angry at him.

In that game it's considered better to get a canned response every week than get someone mad at you and then refuse to answer your questions.

In the Bay Area we had Ann Killion a few years ago ticking off one of the 49er coaches with questions, forget which one, he essentially stopped answering her questions.

Well, then I think it is quite telling that the press shot their mortar fire at Whiz this morning.

Why care about getting angry someone who won't be here in 2013 ?

Plus there is no doubt, Whiz has brought this upon himself.

Could it be Wiz has been told by ownership he will be the HC in 2013 because of the injuries, but he's got to find a QB? I can't possibly think of another reason why he would tank yesterday's game by continuing to play Lindley? Maybe Skelton is his new Leinart, a guy he doesn't believe in.

Our media has a reputation of being easy on coaches like Whiz, Gentry, Gibby, etc. glad they manned up.

I think the media is tired of reading angry tweets and blog comments and not having all of the answers. With how cryptic Whiz can be on certain issues he needs to be asked the tough questions in an assertive manner.
