I don't hate Kobe and Kwame. I hate their behaviors. I wasn't looking for a middle ground, but I was hoping we can have some deeper discussion about sports than who wins and who hates who.

Like I said, this topic was :deadhorse2: back when it happened. I said all I ever care to say on the matter.

Other topics, new ones, sure thing...I'll talk with you for a while. I love debating Suns fans.

I think that, absolutely, you can be judged by your actions. Your actions are what reveal your character. Of course, it's unfair to look at one isolated incident and judge someone by that. So you look at the total picture.

Regarding Raja, I am Suns fan and I think what Raja did to Kobe was wrong. I think it was terrible because it was very dangerous. Did Raja actually apologize to Kobe? You're right, he did not, but he knows it was stupid. His teammates know it was stupid. They supported him as their teammate, they did not support what he did. There are other things Raja does that I don't like such as flopping or getting easily chippy but I still like him as a person. He plays hard, he's honest, I like his personality, and seems like a good teammate as well as a family guy.

I'll be honest with you. I don't neccesairly dislike Raja the person. From what I have seen of him off the court, he seems to be a likeable dude.

To me, he is a lot like Bruce Bowen. Both guys seem like good people off the court. They both play hard, but I also believe they are both borderline dirty players. The only difference to me is that Raja flops A LOT more. They are exactly the type of guys that offensive players hate to play against. With all that said I wouldn't call him a bad character guy, which was kind of my point.

Esther basically said that Brown and Kobe we're being thugs, yet Raja was defending himself.

I never said what Raja did was OK. But I also think the point I was trying to make about different types of conflict on the court is valid. To group them all together would be over-generalization. It would be a better discussion if we could just take out the players names and only look at their behaviors to analyze each situation. Though I doubt anyone cares at this point.

So you are saying that if you took out the names and the teams that were playing that you think pushing some off your back and standing over them is worse then clothslining someone in a very vulnerable position? You seriously believe that?

The possibility of getting injured is greater in the second case. The motivation is worse in the first case, given what provoked each instigator to do what they did. That said, both behaviors were wrong.

Do any of you think less of Raja because of what he did?

You'd better believe it. It was a stupid, childish temper tantrum that badly damaged his reputation and the team's chances. I still like Bell, but that incident will be to his perpetual embarrassment.

That I agree with. I am not trying to justify any of the actions, all I am trying to say is that it is unfair to judge a person a 'bad character' over the events that we are talking about.

It might be a completley bias view point but i have no problem with what Raja did. Was it the sportsman like thing to do? Probably not. But i am not some moral judge here. The Suns ave been labeled soft for as long as i can remember and that takedown did wonders to dispel that notion. All i care about is my team winning and i think Bell sent a definite message to the Lakers on that play. I don't care if you are Kobe Bryant - don't bring your prima donna act around here and think you are not going ot get roughed up.

And for the record i have more love for Kobe than any Non-Lakers fan on this board.

I guess its a situation where you hate the guy if hes not on your team but you love him when he is. Bell is the heart and soul of the Suns and he is avsolutlely imperative in any title run we make.....

Point one, I know that.

Point two, I completely agree with you...I would probably embrace Bell on the Lakers...but I hope that never happens because I can't stand him. He's no Danny Ainge though...if Ainge would have ever played for the Lakers, I think things would have been thrown at him in the Forum.

No doubt about that. Hell, if Laker fans could come to appreciate and really like Karl freakin' Malone, then any fan can love any guy that ends up on their team. That is waht being a 'fan' is all about.

I think the only person in the history of sports that I wouldn't accept being on my team and cheering for them would be Barry Bonds. Of course I am a Dodgers fan, so I don't think I have to ever worry about that.

I was shocked...SHOCKED...at how much I loved Malone on the Lakers.

Me too. The funny thing is, if anyone would have told me that I would have loved the guy as a player that much after his comments about Magic, I probably would have punched them in the face. Thats the funny thing about it, and kind of what my point for the last couple of pages of this thread. Everything is realtive and a matter of perception when it comes to judging players.

We are completely the same person on this. Magic is my sports hero, and I hated Malone as if he played for the Celtics.

No doubt. My wife, the wonderful woman that she is, bought me a Magic Johnson authentic jersey (in the old style) for x-mas this year so that I can wear it on X-mas day for the game. After Kobe changed his number, I told her I am tired of getting players jerseies then having them be obsolete soon after, so she said she is getting me one that will never be out of style.

Yes, I am 30 (soon to be 31) and I still wear Laker jeresies when I watch them. I understand that makes me a bit of a tool, but I am OK with that. :)

My favorite part about you D-Dogg is that you have a Sacha Baron Cohen avatar and you live in Alabama. You must laugh everyday at the ignorance down there.

Well, I don't really live in Alabama. It just goes with the avatar. :)

I live in PHX.

I don't think the strengths and weaknesses of a player's personality depend on whether he plays for "my" team. In fact I find the concept completely bizarre. Does that disqualify me from being a fan?
