Where is the hell yes option? Because that's the answer. He's no Johnny Manziel, he has a NFL skill set. Plus, he' supposedly a hard worker which is something Manziel or the guy he'll be compared to, JaMarcus Russell, are/were not.

I like Winston much better than Mariota. He made NFL throws all game while Mariota threw screens, bubble screens, or plays off bubble screens. That's not going to work in the NFL.

I agree with you. However, don't be surprised if he doesn't come out and goes back for another year at FSU.

His game, his throwing pattern, skill set, and collegiate trajectory resemble Vince Young's. He'll be drafted in about the same spot as well.

I think the new Jets regime takes him at #5.

I don't agree with that at all. He's a much better passer than Young could ever dream of being. Young had a shot-put delivery and a terrible throwing motion. I think Mariota compares more to Young than Winston does.

I do agree that if he's there at 5, the Jets snap him up. They could even trade up for him.

Oh sure, that's how we define anyone that disagrees with us. You're a genius if you'd pass on the crab stealing rapist or you're a fool if you wouldn't rush in your order for a whole pack of Winston's.

First of all, YOU are the fool if you think he actually raped that girl while there IS definite proof that he didn't.

Second, this board was clamoring all over Zack Mattenberger while he pleaded GUILTY to sexual battery in college, but nobody brought that up when yall were all over his jock.

Third, Im not suprised this is coming from you, the same guy who made passive-aggressive subtle racist posts before.

Forth, someone would take a gander on him, and he IS by far the best QB in this class and the safest pick in terms of skills. WE would be the fools to pass him up just like we did Tony "hands are too small" Bridgewater, and Derek "system qb, all he does is throw screen passes" Carr.

I don't suppose you could back up any of this? I have no idea what you're talking about with most of your post. How about a link to the proof and another to my racist posts. And we weren't all in line for Metterberger either. And then, after you give up on your quest to find all this proof, go back and read my post again. I acknowledged the two extremes of the situation and did NOT come down on one side or the other.

I just find it laughable whenever anyone lumps everyone together and calls them fools simply because they hold a different opinion. BTW, I'll wait patiently for your evidence that I've made racist posts. An apology would be nice too although a simple retraction would work also.

HELL YES. Kid has plenty of time to grow up but we all know it would never happen so. We are ok with aging QB's and low round projects.

The only thing they have in common physically is skin color. Winston is a pocket passer with excellent mechanics.

probably no

Its not a 'Hell No', like I see in here. If you said 'Hell No' I dont think you understand he is literally the most talented QB since Andrew Luck. Love him or hate him, thats a fact.

I think we have a unique leadership and culture that could help straighten him out. Hes very immature, thats his crime. The crablegs thing was flat weird, but just a sign of his immaturity. Its disconcerting to see people still jumping on the "Rape!" bandwagon, when he wasnt charged.

Immaturity eventually goes away. Hes just a late bloomer. Hes not a drug addict. Hes not a party addict. Hes not a lockeroom problem. Hes not a violent criminal. Hes just a big kid right now.

Hes a very good teammate and EXTREMELY talented.

the reason I say No, is because he claims he wants to play baseball this spring, when he shouldve been preparing for the combine. That tells me he may not love football, as much as he should. Just because youre great at something, doesnt mean you like it, essentially.

Is it? I guess, maybe, but it's not like there've been a bunch of great QB's come along since Luck. I think he's got the highest ceiling in this class but he's being talked about as a day one starter and I don't see it.

I've seen a poster or two rave about his mechanics but I still see a guy who thinks he can make every throw with just his arms. In the college game, he almost can. But even at the college level he tends to underrate the speed of the coverage guys, how's that going to play at the next level? If he were perfect off the field, he'd be the number one pick in this draft. But I don't see him as a can't-miss prospect and I wouldn't spend a high first round pick on a QB with questions on and off the field.

I would like to be a "Hell No" but everyone behind Palmer is already a "Hell No". Beggars can't be choosers.

No chance. He answered all the questions about his smarts and mental toughness against Oregon.

He played pretty well other than the play where he tackled himself. His receivers dropped 3 passes on third down and Cook fumbled twice when their offense was moving. This isn't on one guy. It was a team loss.

The way he has played late in games actually shows how mentally tough he is on-the-field. His 4th qtr numbers are absurd.

With the exception of the crazy fumble, explain your position here because it's not like he threw 5 interceptions. In fact, he put up decent numbers. He was 23 of 49 with 368 yards, 1TD, 1INT. It wasn't his fault his teammates couldn't secure the ball or that his defense couldn't stop Mariota. Yes he has a 10 cent head but don't discount that he is a pretty good passer. Better than anything we have right now.

If more warning lights don't go off when the teams do their due diligence, it will be a non-issue for us as Winston will be long gone. I guess it's possible that someone like Connor Cook might fall to us and if so, I'd jump at filling our QB need early. But more likely, we'll draft a running back (Gurley or Gordon hopefully) or a DE (Calhoun or Dupree maybe?) in the first round and try and draft another late round QB prospect. Maybe we'll get lucky and one of the not-quite long shots such as Prescott or Grayson will last until the 3rd round.
