You are the GM of the Cardinals, what do you do?

Supposed to be Travis Laboy. That is exactly why i worry that's how the Cards think they are going to replace Dansby. They are going to try and sign some scrub and plug him in there and the results will be very Laboy-like.

I would agree but LaBoy was an injury prone guy, shame on ARZ for not taking that into consideration before signing him. Also the guy was a DE converted to OLB, he had no experience in the 3-4 and wasn't a 4-down player. If we are able to land Ryans (not a scrub), he can play the WILB spot in place of Dansby.

Cody Brown was drafted in 2009. We lost Pace to free agency in 2008.
I just meant Brown was picked up as the "heir" replacement, even if it was a year later. They knew Laboy, Okeafor, Berry, etc. were old. None are here to replace though. Just fill a void. So even being a year late, Brown is still considered (to me) as the next guy up.

PACE was and is a strongside LB in a 3-4 who weighs close to 270. Brown, if things work out, is a weakside rush linebacker who borders on 240 LB.

If Brown is heir to anyone it's to Berry and Okeafor.

Davis, however, is a bit closer in size to Pace - and perhaps can fill the role.

Is Aaron Kampman a UFA or an RFA? I'd love to see him as the crown jewel of the Cards FA acquisitions.

Right. This isn't like the Antonio Smith situation where the Cards had Campbell already on the team for a year before Smith left.

I don't know why people keep talking about guys signing ridiculous deals when they are only signing normal deals for today's NFL. There seem to be a lot of people who simply don't understand the current financial situation in the NFL.

Wilson just got something like $18 million guaranteed from the Cards. Fitz got something like $30 million in guarantees. Dansby got $17 million plus for two years. Warner got $19 million for ONE YEAR!

That is a ridiculous amount of money but was that overpaying for breaking the Super Bowl loser jinx, a 2nd NFC West Championship, and that incredible game against Green Bay?

I expect them to draft a LB 1st or 2nd round and plug Haggins back on the inside with G Hayes> That's how they're going to go IMO.

I'd extend Anquan three years if he takes most of it upfront and the following three years are modest cap figures.

I guess your talking about my post. Sorry but Calvin Pace had 8 sacks this year and like 55 tackles for $12M. Sorry but that is a little to much in my opinion, sorry if my posts come off as sane and reasonable. To put into perspective Clark Haggans had 77 tackles, 5 sacks and 2 FF for a total salary of what for it.....$1.3M! You come from the Jerry Jones/Dan Snyder school of thought.

No, you come from the Vince Lombardi school of thought. This isn't 1967. 5 years and $20 million guaranteed is nothing these days. Wilson just got $18.5million and is supposed to be a premier pass rusher for a SS. Yet he only has 4.5 sacks in his last 39 games and can't even cover a one legged TE in prime time.

I'd have gladly taken a cap hit of $10 million for Calvin Pace to be an OLB for the Cards the last two years.

As for Haggans how about the $1.3 million the Cards paid for 11 games, 0 starts and 19 tackles in 2008? It's all relative.

Adrian Wilson is a PB, he's a been to a few, Pace isn't even snub material. So Haggans had a poor 2008, he wasn't making $12M, plus he was a back-up for most of the year.

This is what I would do if I were the Cardinal GM. Looking at Dansby's imminent departure and the Warner situation. After Warner announces his retirement, I would step to the podium while all of the media are present and announce my retirement. Rebuilding this team is going to be a horrendous job in an uncapped year.
