All of this talk about how we shouldnt discount what Wiz did while Warner was here...sorry I don't buy it. When Mike Martz had Warner he was regarded as one of the best coaches in the NFL, look what he's done since Warner split.

I dont think anyone would be happy if it was announced tomorrow that Martz was named the head coach of the Cardinals. Lets cut our losses and admit that the ONLY reason this team ever had any success was due to Kurt Warner NOT coach Wizenpunt.

And Vince Lombardi won championships with Bart Starr and none after he left GB. Guess he was overrated and the League should take his name off the Trophy.

I would not be happy with Mike Martz as the Headcoach but I would be ecstatic if Whiz would name him OC. Especially since we are going to throw the ball 50 times a game no matter who is Qb'ing. We would have scored points with him at OC. OF course the D would have been more frazzled. They barely keep up now with us throwing so damn much.

Martz inherited a defending Superbowl champion from Vermeil. And its worth noting that Martz went 0-8 during Kurt's final 8 starts in a Rams uniform.

Then Kurt floundered in New York and was benched by Tom Coughlin...

Then came to Az and the Cards did nothing with Kurt and Denny Green...

Then Whiz came and the pieces came back into place and Kurt again looked like an MVP. But I suppose Kurt was just deliberately keeping a low profile for about 6 years there because the trophies got boring.

Kurt and Whiz helped each-other, if Whiz hadnt shown up Kurt probably wanders the league for a few more years and retires ambiguously and there is no hall of fame or NFL network job waiting. And if Whiz does not get a rejuvenated Kurt then his Cardinal coaching career probably ends in 2010... barring some miracle QB find, or THESMEL being right and Leinart being rated "95 Elite".

Warner was playing hurt in those games with the Rams with a bad thumb. I believe the Giants were 5-2 when Kurt was benched. They wanted Eli in there.

Or maybe, like alot of coordinators in the league, Martz was a good coordinator but not so good HC.

LOL one year going 7-5-2 with the Redskins really makes Lombardi a perfect comparison. Lombardi broke a 14 year losing streak for Washington and Green Bay went 6-7-1 With Starr and without Lombardi. That Lombardi crack was a ridiculous post.

7-5-2? You should have higher expectations.
