How on earth does a player become overweight during the season??

As far as I could tell he was playing just fine Sunday. Better than Robinson for sure. So how does he get too big too play in just 4 days? I didn't think you could be too large to play the NT position in the NFL.

Williams becomes the 5th Cardinal first round draft pick to have had issues this year. Rolle and Leinart cut. Fitz and Beanie hobbled by injury. What next?

This ranks as yet another chapter of the absurd when it comes to the Cardinals' defense. All anyone has to do is watch the tape. The guy who is starting at NT is thoroughly ineffective...which is causing other teams to double and triple Dockett without any qualms or fears...which is HURTING the entire defense.

Then you watch when Williams is in the game and it's a remarkable difference...he's not getting hammered backwards as the starter is...he's more than holding his own at the point of attack...and he scrapes down the line and delivers blows on the RB that the starter has never ever delivered in his career.

Just like Deuce is too heavy and out of shape...well, he's the BEST o-lineman on the team...and the coaches can go shove the weight thing because it's a joke.

Go tell the best NTs in the league they can't play because they are tipping 340. Ridiculous.

Rolle wasn't cut. Like Dansby, he split for greener pastures...

If you hold everyone to the rules, then everyone must abide by them.

That being said. I agree with Mitch. This is a joke.

Somebody mentioned in a thread today that Rolle was released. But then there's not much difference as far as I'm concerned. You don't extend them then you've basically released them.

No way only being effective for 2 or 3 plays before you are visibly sucking wind means your to fat. Also shows a complete lack of integrity on the players part. The only joke if true is Williams.

Are you seeing that, Shane? I am not seeing it. If anyone is out of shape it's the starter. He aint got nuttin.

Or a complete failure by our supposed fitness guru Lott. Maybe he is as overrated as our HOF offensive line coach.

Me personally? No. K9 stated that he saw him in for 2 plays the other day and he was visibly hurting/sucking wind.

Duck:

Hard to blame lott. He doesn't live with the kid. But gotta be hard to gain weight in TC and through the season if you are doing what your supposed to be doing.

I remember reading an article this summer that talked about how slow, fat and out of shape Williams was when he reported to camp, and something about how he barely was able to make it up Camelback with Lott and his posse...

Huh? It is ultimately up to the player on what he eats. Lott can't control Dan Williams 24/7.

More then one poster on this board who sit on the home side of the field close to the field posted about it.

This news only verifies what they saw.

I agree with Shane if the player cant play more then 2-3 plays a defensive stand then the only person that is a joke is the Player not the staff.

While dissapointing I am not going to write the kid off yet either. Every rookie has a hill to climb and this just so happens to be his. His worth will be determined based on how he digs himself out of it.

So there should be no consequences for not following the rules. Williams is not yet good enough or have enough credit to deserve special considerations yet.

Mitch, he's a FAT and OUT of Shape 340 pound Bastige... He literally can't make it thru an entire single series of downs. We'd have to send in a stretcher to cart his fat ass off the field if we left him in for more than 4-5 consecutive plays.
Get over it man. Who knows. Maybe next season he'll take this whole thing a bit more seriously. I believe he will. But for now, he's a liability plain and simple. And for the record, so is B-Rob! Which means DD is going to get mobbed on Sunday... :bang:

It's tough to believe Williams is too out of shape when he's chasing down RBs like he did last week. Obviously, the coaches know more than I do, but you don't need to be in the locker room to see that our least effective NT is the only one not to get benched this year.

I praised the signing of guys like Robinson and Anderson when I thought they were being brought in as backups. I would have felt much different if I knew they would be entrenched in the starting line-up.

He can chase a guy down. But he will be on the bench sucking down an oxygen mask for the rest of the series.
