They might drop to the early part of round 2. Would the Cards move up to get one? Seems doubtful based on their recent signing.

I think Monti has positioned himself to just take the BPA regardless of position in the 1st.

I expect him to move around in the 2nd and 3rd for semi needs. But I do not see WR as one of those. That would be RT/G and defensive front 7 (edge, NT and ILB)

Nah, we're going D...for an off-ball linebacker.
If Grant is there we go defense. I’m actually thinking we could or would move up a couple of spots to ensure his selection.

If Grant and possibly Nolan is off the board then CB or OL drops to us. Do we pull this trigger or move back?

I keep changing my mind on the draft.

You could argue that the DL is now one of our stronger groups and that OL, ILB and even WR need more adding than DL.

You could argue that. If you are counting beans and making piles that makes sense. But we could well have a chance to create a dominant unit with one more special, dynamic piece.

I would absolutely take Grant or Nolen if they are there.

That would be a great athlete pick. Those don’t have a history of consistent success.
While I don't disagree, if you are going to be a draft and develop team who drafts outside the top 15, these are the types of players you have to be able to hit on IMO.

It depends on how you measure need vs positional value vs ceiling for success.

If I am staring at Grant vs Will Johnson vs Jihad Campbell...I am taking Grant. Will Johnson vs Membou might go to Membou. Johnson vs Kelvin Banks I am taking Johnson.

I would not take an ILB in round 1 of this draft.

right? we keep hearing so and so were only that good because they were playing next to so and so or had another so and so rushing on the other side

let's fill our front with so and so's - that's the ticket - when offenses have to game plan and account for all four - using 5 or 6 players in protection - that's when our secondary starts hawking

but again - idk what monti is thinking - we've seen him choose offense with our first pick two years in a row plus he just dropped a whole lot of keesh on defense

I am pretty much on the Grant train right now. Seems like the perfect fit for this defense.
We were robbed of his combine performance. March 21st before their pro day, if he is able to test, is the last day to buy Grant stock. Grant has been reported to test as a 99th percentile athlete similar to how Stewart tested at the combine.

Per Bruce Feldman...reported testing numbers for Grant.

4.9 40 at 360.

Max velocity of 18.75 mph.

Single 115lb dumbbell press 34 reps with his right arm and 27 with his left.

29 inch vert.

Reported best conditioning a Michigan coach has ever seen from a 350 lb athlete.

All of that from just workouts, and not from specific combine training.

The viral video of his speed and effort is of him running down Penn St RB Kaytron Allen like DK Metcalf ran down Budda Baker.

Crazy
Just like to know how much these athletes can lift with a single dumbell concentration curl

How about OG Tyler Booker Alabama. He is dropping because he did not do well at the Combine. But look at his game tape, he could be a dominant starter for many years.
Check the Mic podcast and their draft analyst said that his combine was so bad that he should drop out of any conversation in the 1st and that he moved behind the North Dakota player as the best G

I would switch WR & CB or at least move WR to tier 2.

ILB lowkey is Tier 1.
i dont think the offense gets any better until the WR play improves

Michael Wilson is a 3rd or 4th wideout on a good offense. He probably improves in year 3, but the ceiling is limited. MHJ has a higher ceiling, but he needs to take a giant step. But that step is hard when your #2 WR has a hard time getting open.

I think offense needs a speedster more than anything. Tet nor Luther fits that bill.

Eagles won a Super Bowl with Jahan Dotson as their 3 and Wilson is better than that.
