Two things about the 16 pick to think about as it pertains to DL.

1 - The Cardinals reportedly had a large offer out for Milton Williams as a FA. They didn't ultimately land him, but they also didn't pivot and sign another player to do what Williams does. I think this is important for the Mason Graham, Walter Nolen, and Derrick Harmon crowd. It would be an odd pivot to be willing to spend 20+ mil on a vet to fill that role and then not be willing to use a 1st rounder to do so.

2 - The Cardinals did sign Dalvin Tomlinson to play the NT spot. Not sure if Bilal Nichols is his "back up" but ultimately, neither player looks to be a ling term solution. Could this open up a Kenneth Grant opportunity? Maybe. But it also could land on the Cardinals adding a NT later in the draft vs earlier as a NT role is a little less valuable.
IMO the value of Grant is that he can anchor against the run, but is also extremely effective penetrating to collapse the pocket. He’s like two players in one, giving the Cards maximum flexibility on future DL construction.

My point ultimately is that you don't want to take a player in round 1 that opposing teams personnel groupings or the game script can take away.

You don't want to have a lead with 2 minutes left and your #16 pick is on the bench because the opposing team has to throw the football.

Man I’m not sure about this logic.

Not my issue but I don’t see Grant on the bench if I’m correct he can collapse the pocket. Harassing the QB is the key to disrupting a 2 minute drill.
and if the team thinks this, I am ok with Grant. I referenced it earlier, I am just trying to avoid drafting Dan Williams in round 1. I am not looking for a player that I have no intention of being able to play in key situations. If the Cardinals draft Grant with the intention of using him in those key spots, I am fine with it.
