Maybe Monti will cook again this Draft:

Chargers trade with the Cardinals and select Loveland with the #16 overall pick:
* Arizona trades #16 to the Chargers for their #22, #86 and #125

Cardinals select Tyler Booker G Alabama with the #22 overall pick.

Then Monti gets aggressive and moves back into the first round in a trade with the Commanders. Washington currently only has 5 picks in this draft and is looking to restock some picks. So the Cardinals bundle their second rounder and the picks from the previous trade with the Chargers to make the move.
* Arizona trades #47, #86, and #125 to the Commanders for pick #29

Cardinals select Kenneth Grant DT Mich with the #29 overall pick

Monti adds two "Big Uglies" in the middle of both Lines!
I would pass out with all that chicken wing sauce on my face if we got booker and Grant

FWIW, I heard something on the radio today they said was from Schefter about the Cards being open to trading Murray to a QB needy team.
Probably just pre-draft hocum but that would be interesting.

Trade Murray for a high pick, pick up Cousins, and draft a QBOF???
I wouldn’t hate that.

I'd be surprised if Gannon or Monti would be ready to move on from Kyler already. Unless things in the meeting rooms haven't been as rainbows as he's projected in public (and Gannon is really good about keeping stuff in-house).

It's extremely frustrating to replace -- much less upgrade -- a player of Kyler's quality. The Browns thought they were doing that and look what happened.

Forget the playoffs if that happened

Gannon likely thinks you can win the Super Bowl with a QB of the caliber of Jalen Hurts.

He also likely thinks he has a quarterback that is significantly better than Jalen Hurts.

If Gannon is fired in the next two years, the primary reason will be at least one of these assumptions being wrong.

Well if he believes you can with a QB the caliber of Jalen Hurts - he is clearly correct, it just happened.

Why does he have to believe Kyler is better - all he has to think is that he is equivalent.

Until the rest of the team is close to equivalent to the Eagles it would not be fair for him to be fired for either of these beliefs.

The challenge is that you need arguably the best GM in the NFL and an extremely loaded roster to get to that point. Maybe Monti is that and can achieve it, but little evidence to date.

Michael and the fan base will likely run out of patience before then.

Im not sure Sanders or Jaxon Dart are the answer there

so it would be about playing some combo of Coby Brissett or Tune and waiting until next year

I wish he would have ran out of patience with Steve sooner

Is Ward better than Kyler? I would say no.

Kyler is somewhere in the 8-12 range. He’s hard to place, because of the inconsistency. Some games he’s a top 5, some games he’s a buttom league starter.

But is Ward better than that? Doubtful. He doesn’t have the potential of the top 3 last year. And then the whole lottery of not knowing if Ward will actually pan out on top.

This would be a hard no for me.

Big difference--Cleveland was moving away from a proven playoff winner whose dropoff was directly caused by injury. We would not be doing that.

closer we get the less i think we're trading down - not if we want o-line and not if cincy and seattle are picking right behind us

i think all 3 teams have similar boards and needs as far as o-line goes - not to mention the plethora of playoff teams - i'm guessing the o-line tree starts getting picked in the middle of the first round and monti isn't messing around - not if he didn't re-sign hernandez - he likely already knows who he wants - we all do lol

Cousins would last 2 games behind this line as it is. Say what you want about Kyler, he can make the line good much better than it is at times. Seattle is the biggest exception.
