OMG hilarious.

My point was that all offseason quite a few posters acted like Allen and Murphy were meh players....while others (and not just "Kool aiders) used actually objective fact to argue otherwise.

You acted like a hideously rude Kool-Aider all offseason to pessimistic posters, but you were "gaslit" about Allen. Priceless. You still haven't owned up to any of that, so why should people who didn't slobber all over Allen own up to the fact that he's been a damn good player? If you want one, you should admit the other.

For my part, I wasn't down on Allen, but didn't think he was a star. I now think he's very good--still not star quality but with the potential--and damned well better get extended.

There were plenty of people who were saying that Allen was one of the five best players on our defense, and there were a lot of people saying that Allen was Just Another Guy. Really, we're seeing that both can be true.

I thought that Allen was a guy who had a ton to prove this season because he played well when healthy and then he played fairly well when injured. A lot of arrows were pointing to a breakout season. And they still are.

I don't have to "own" anything. No one has been proven right either way. Only two fricking games have been played, one against a legitimate Super Bowl contender (while missing what? 6 starters?) and another against a legitimate playoff contender (or pretender if you wish).

I wait until there is real definitive evidence either way. Even with the harping on adding pass rushers, the Cardinals currently have the highest pass rush win rate in the league! But you won't hear me say that means anything yet really, it's just that the early numbers say that the concerns about the pass rush may be overblown.

We're on the same page here. Allen is 100% a very good DL but not a star. If he is your best DL, you probably don't have a good DL unless you have 3 players of Allen's skill level.

What's hilarious is that they have seasons of good play, with good stats, and people like you still bash Murphy and Allen.

When I went through and reviewed who was saying Allen and Murphy sucked, it was mainly you actually.

Bash is such a childish way of putting it. If saying Murphy is more effective in the slot and questionable on the outside is bashing, then you're not serious about discussing the quality of the player.

This year, oh yeah. Weird take is saying anyone on that D played well while the entire team was getting steamrolled the first 6 quarters. Murphy is the closest that you can say he’s played the entire season but he made zero impact along with the rest of the secondary getting roasted by Mahommes.

I think there was something about Watt helping Allen understand leverage and in those highlights you can see it. I remember seeing an interview with a former OL talking about Reggie White and he said the thing people didn't get about him was how smart he was he knew he was going to be double teamed but it didn't matter because he'd get skinny between you so one guy had his left hand on him and one had his right hand on him when you tried to turn your body to be able to use both hands he'd sudden explode and knock you back.

Watt does it too and I think Allen is learning it even if you're not double teamed instead of just bull rushing right through the guy or trying to run around him, get one one shoulder or the the other and then put all your leverage into that side.

We should seriously consider hiring Watt to be our DL coach after he hangs up his cleats.
