I cant ignore the fact that keim point out the need to have a cover guy safety who is fast and can cover a good range of field and can especially match up well against tigh ends,a sort of ball hawk.
Pryor is a great safety but is just 5'11 and he is more a hard hitting safety.
Martin is a tweener and probably his natural position is playing guard.
I dont see them spending a precious first round pick for a guard again

Earl Thomas is 5'10". If the Cardinals drafted a versatile safety like Calvin Pryor it would give Todd Bowles a lot more flexibility on the back end. IMO, it would give 'us' a true center fielder to go with Cromartie and Peterson.

Except Earl is much faster than Pryor. More of a deep cover safety. Pryor would be SS on our D.

I don't prefer either of those two at 20. Pryor had a very average workout and his athleticism came into question a bit. But he is reportedly a very good kid.

As for Martin, I'm completely against a RT in round 1 unless, for some reason, an ultra talent like Matthews fell to twenty, which is illogical. Is Martin really any better a RT than guys like Moses, the Clemson kid, Mewhort, or even Kouandjio if he were to fall at 52? You just don't take RT's in round 1. It's too easy to convert a LT that can't cut it to RT.

Unless Barr would fall, I'm looking at DL at 20. Ealy, Hageman, and Jernigan are all good options.

Agree in what u wrote abou pryor and martin.
Hageman is a very risky pick,is not worth a first pick.
Ealy i think is a shaughnessy clone, and we need speed in our division cause we lack this with our pass rushers.
Jernigan is a safe pick but i dont know if he fit well on our scheme.
I will trade down and take
Shazier and brandon thomas or bitonio with 2nd pick.
Mcgill and jean baptiste can be our 3rd selection,i can see them playing safety

Watch the tape on this kid, he plays faster than his time! Name the last time a player didn't have pads on his body on Sundays? Big differance IMO. Yeah, he's a turtle at 4.58 ;) He's a heat speaking missile!

Wasn't Jerry Rice & Emmitt Smith slow? Until they got old they rarely got caught from behind. :p

I'd luv 2 have Barr to, but if Pryor does were Cardinal red I'm sure once he's starts playing you guys would luv him & what he brings in nastiness & toughness to this D.

This, Pryor's football speed and instincts are superb!

I'm not saying they're not. He'd be a good pick overall.

He just might take a while to find his stride though. I don't think he'd be ready to start from game one, at SS. I think Tony Jefferson might even be in play there, having been in the system a year already. It gives him a hand up, even being an UFA last year.

Pryor would obviously have a great ceiling if he learns/studies well. That's key.

Great year to trade back..

I agree but here is something to consider, I would like to trade back for a number one next year. This draft is deep, but 2-1s next year could give us the ammo to move up and the target is Famous Jamous Winston. I think we could afford that with the good free agency period that we have had.

Don't think Keim and Arians would consider it. They think they're close. They're not thinking that deep into the future.

Arians has said he thinks Palmer will be his QB 3 or more years. They're making their run now.

I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on Aaron Murray in this draft though. For a 3rd if we get that chance.

It may come down to Ealy vs Pryor. Ealy gets the nod because

A He is versatile. Can play end or Linebacker

B He is more valued because he is a front 7 player

c The Cards figure they can get Buchanon or Richardson/Mewhort at 52

D If they go RT at 52 they can get Loston or Dixon in the third

i wish the draft wasnt pushed back, I like the draft itself but the speculation prior to the draft is mind numbing.

I don't disagree with any/many of the divergent opinions expressed in this thread and naturally the Cards board will determine the way we go. But my guess is that the team will select an OT IF one of the top four are available when they pick. And only Lewan and Martin are possibilities, and both are loooooong shots. So they then turn to, imo, a pass rusher, the OLB from Auburn. And they forgo an OT until possibly the fourth or fifth round. That is why SK attended the Pro Day of the Canadian OT from McGill Univ. If I'm correct (highly doubtful) then we'll look at safety, TE, and DL in the 2nd, 3rd, and possibly 4th round. If we can trade back and pick up an extra pick/picks, then maybe a RB and WR. A month and a week, we'll start to find out.
