Sounds like he should worry about his own kids, and not be giving parenting advice to others.

The movie looks funny. I'll probably enjoy it. Him, not so much.

Do you want him to simply not respond then? Or say, 'well, I know how I'd react, but I don't want to address the subject or answer your question'? He was presented with a concern and he answered it. He didn't say, 'Donald, this is how you should raise your kid!' :D

People are afraid like, what if my kid asks what porno is? Just tell them. Tell your kid that the porno's not for you.

That's not what he'd do. That's him telling others what to do.

Fair enough. Don't listen to his advice. In fact, don't listen to him at all. Why do you read stories about him if you don't like him? Not saying you aren't allowed or anything, but just seems a bit strange to hound after someone you can't stand.

Actually, I very much liked those three films, although I can see where you're coming from. JSBSB was just raunchy fun--wasn't meant to be anything else. Jersey Girl was a solid, touching story that many people didn't like only because it wasn't typical Jay and Silent Bob stuff. Clerks 2? Sounded like it'd be a needless sequel, but riotously funny and struck a few nerves in there. I just think he's evolved as a filmmaker. I can understand folks that don't like his stuff any more, but I still do.

man, I just didn't think there was anything funny about Jay and Silent or Clerks 2. Just seemed like regurgitated crap trying to be as edgy and funny as he was when he first started out.

Like I said, I actually WANT to see Zack and Miri, whereas I saw JayBob and Clerks two out of sheer boredom. I am kind of surprised at how it bombed last night. 2 million opening night? That's pretty atrocious for any movie staring Seth Rogen at this point.

Kevin Smith IMO lost what made him great. He took regular people and made them regular people who seemed much more interesting than they should be. Clerk, Mallrats and Chasing Amy are perfect examples of that. He launched Jason Lee, Ben Afleck and to a certain degree Matt Damon, then he tried to ride them all the way to the bank and made a ok Dogma, a over the top Jay and Silent Bob and Jersey Girl and then tried to redeem himself with Clerk 2. At Clerk 2, I figured out that Kevin Smith was not the same guy he was 15 years earlier. He no longer wrote smart funny, he wrote shock value funny. I have been over him for a while, but will cherish Clerks, Mallrats and Chasing Amy as all time favs. By the way, I do want to see this movie, but I am not expecting a lot. As far as not wanting to see the word Porno during football, why is it ok to see a trailer for a action movie that will kill 500 people, but anything with sex is taboo.

You don't like his work, so you call him a douchebag! I'll remember that when we disagree on a move the Cards make ;)

Liked Clerks Mallrats and Dogma. Just posted that to annoy you. :)

On a side note;
Has anyone seen Kevin Smith lately?
I saw him on Leno and he has ballooned. We're talking Orson Wells like.

I'm quite amazed that we agree on this point. I loved Chasing Amy and Dogma (my two favorites of his) but absolutely despised Jay and Silent Bob, which to me was a waste of time for all involved, including me.

That said, I'm definitely interested in seeing Zack and Miri, especially Miri.

i'd give this movie a solid B. A solid overall comedy and probably his best film from a technical standpoint. It didn't seem like he was trying so hard like has been for the last 8 years or so. Maybe he just finally grew up and matured into a better film-maker who was finally comfortable enough to get out of his zone. kudos to Smith.

I laughed a lot. Thought it was funny. Suprised they were able to get the R rating with the full frontals and nearly actual sex.

My wife and I enjoyed the movie. Very funny--lots of laugh out loud funny moments. Kinda predictable about what would happen between Zack & Miri but it didn't ruin the movie.

Was the "Make a Porno" part blacked out on posters anywhere else? Here in Memphis with so many uptight bible thumpers I can understand I guess.

thought it was a very funny and was entertained throughout. no clever plot twists or real surprises, but funniness abounded.
