Despite their attention to the facts, Ms. Bigelow and Mr. Boal both pointed out that “Zero Dark Thirty” remained a thriller and not a kind of documentary intended to stand up to nit-picking by historians. For instance, their film is rooted — more by cinematic choice than by historical necessity — in the experience of a young American intelligence operative, Maya, who is portrayed by Jessica Chastain.
Trailer looked very, very good. I hope they do show graphic torture scenes. If Americans are going to endorse it, they damn well better know what they're supporting.
It wasn't a proper Afghan burial. It was a proper Navy burial... I found it odd as well but I think they want to release the news of his death and burial at the same time. No time for the wishy washy sentimental martyr syndrome...if torture is called for, do what you have to do.
I am still on the fence of, how do we know its not all ********? We swept him to sea and threw him in the water? really? Proper afghan burial? why would we do a proper burial? Im no tin foil hat kinda guy but I cant get excited for the execution of bin laden based on hearsay.
Movie sounds interesting but I will be watching with the intention of seeing a fiction movie.

Ah, I thought they said it was some sort of afghan burial.
I just have a hard time taking the govt word for it. We all know saddam was killed, bin laden we are just laying blind faith into the report.
Beyond that, I still find it all fascinating even though I am skeptical.
Well the Taliban said we killed Osama.. That's enough for me..
Im ready to see this movie though.. Commercial looked great..

Yeah, your right, The Taliban are a very credible and honest source.
One of the Seals wrote a book about it. Do you think he lied? If so, why?
Right, and if he were still alive, it would be in their best interest to say he's dead
The stated purpose was so that wherever he was buried did not turn into some twisted kind of terrorist shrine.
Zero Dark Thirty recently snagged four Golden Globe nominations, including the award for Best Picture. It's also considered a shoe-in for multiple Oscar nominations.
How? The movie hasn't even been released yet.
I don't think I'll ever truly understand Hollywood logic.

There have been numerous screenings, including for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, who nominates the films for the Globes.
They release it limited before the New Year to be in contention for Oscars and other awards, then go wide after the New Year in many instances. Just the way it's been for a long time.
Yeah, it's pretty much baloney.
I understand that's the way it's been, and it doesn't look like you're actively defending the process. It's utter crap. Studios that think they have a hit will try to time it so it's juuuuust in time for the end of the year, often in a limited release, so they have the best chance to win. Django Unchained being released on Christmas? Silliness. Think this movie, or others like it, would ever be released initially on Jan 4th? Not a chance.
So what? What does any of that have to do with you? I just don't get why you're so upset. Believe it or not, holidays (ANY holidays) are huge release dates for movies. On Christmas, what is there to do if you're alone for the holidays? Everything's closed, so everyone goes to the movies. I used to do it all the time on Thanksgiving.
I'm just confused why you are so angry about this--it's not like Django is playing ONLY on Christmas...
