With Dan Majerle sliding over from his broadcasting post to a Suns coach's seat, the Suns named former Phoenix center Scott Williams as the television game analyst who will replace him.
As Majerle did, Williams will share the TV color analyst duties with Eddie Johnson. Williams, 40, worked for FSN Wisconsin last season as a pre- and postgame host, sideline reporter and color analyst. Williams was a member of three NBA championship teams in Chicago (1991, 1992 and 1993) and played for the Suns during a 15-year career.
Al McCoy returns for a 39th season as the radio "Voice of the Suns" with Tim Kempton handling color. Tom Leander (My45) and Gary Bender (FSN Arizona) will continue calling play-by-play on the TV side with Tom Chambers returning as a pregame and halftime analyst and Kevin Ray returning as the My45 pregame and halftime host (Leander hosts FSN Arizona pregame shows

Two legitimate Centers sharing the 48 minutes per game at Center.

Bill Cartwright on our coaching staff. Finally a big man replacing Marc Iavaroni, after D'Antoni thought that former guard Jay Humphries was a proper replacement.

And now a Center doing color commentary. The same one who wanted to be the one to replace Iavaroni at the time.

Centers all over the place. Man, the Suns are making up for lost time.

I love it!

I don't know about you guys, but I think Scott Williams is a phenomenal color analyst. He's insightful, well-spoken, and gives lively commentary (not quite in Ron Wolfley's league). I wasn't sure about him at first and feared he might be wooden i.e. Tim Kempton. I liked Majerle, but Williams is definitely an upgrade.

Agreed, he seems to fumble over his words, but then again Eddie Johnson only "axes" or "axed" the players legitimate questions. I miss Thunder Dan and his emphatic "HOLLA!"

Williams has done a good job this season so far IMO. But I really miss Majerle, I thought he was a good analyst, and he was very entertaining to listen to, usually made me laugh at least once a game.
