One point I do agree with is that there are few players left I am interested in signing over the next couple weeks. Might as well just re-sign the players the Cardinals had.

We need to get real. Virtually every talent evaluator felt this was the weakest free agent class in several years. Why? Because teams were unusually agressive with respect to re-signing/extending their own players. Most quality people felt only 3-4 players were tier one and even then there were no sure thing Pro Bowl players. Why should the Cards be drop tons of money on mediocrity? I’d like to get Moore and re-sign Hernandez and White, but that clearly wouldn’t satisfy this board. Ossenfort seems to want to get under 30 year old players if he’s signing someone for 3 years+. He has a plan and I’m willing to let him work it. So far he’s done numerous good things. I’m going to wait until the offseason is over before I draw conclusions. Many on this board seem like the guys who bet on halftime scores. That’s not me.
you need to get real. This isn't some new MO. Last season we had massive cap room AND A VERY GOOD FA class and we did NOTHING. Two years ago, we had oodles of FA and let one of the best defensive players in FA LEAVE THE TEAM with good players available as well and did NOTHING.

No one is saying we need to sign multiple Pro Bowlers... but if we're literally not going to upgrade anywhere except one Edge position, when there were good Gs/DT AND downgrading at an already weak ILB position, that just ain't gonna cut it for a team that's "supposed to take the Detroit Lions-esque 3rd year leap" so many people have mischaracterized.

USING CAPS DOES NOT MAKE YOUR OPINION BETTER THAN OTHER PEOPLE'S OPINION.

ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE TRYING TO UNDERMINE ARGUEBLY THE MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE POSTER ON THE ENTIRE BOARD.

IN FACT IT JUST MAKES YOU LOOK STUPID AND TAKES FOCUS AWAY FROM ANY VALID POINTS THAT YOU MIGHT HAVE.

People always assume that Monti successfully executes on his offseason plans. What if he just isn't good at closing deals?
Based on his actions, I really like the plan.

But execution is lacking.

Is that Monti not being able to close?
Is that Monti not willing to pay that much for 2nd and 3rd tier players?
Is that the players not wanting to play for the Cardinals?

We do not know. So it all comes down to how Monti mitigates when 1st options of the plan doesn't pan out.

Not my first options, but like it.

Former 2nd rounder. Not a world-beater. Just solid starter. Better run defender than pass-rusher. Overall solid 2nd DT in rotation.

Pff has him as ranked #32 of interior overall and better than several of the players already gone, but all the money is being thrown at DTs with pass-rushing skills, which is probably why his market wasn't as hot.

I like this so much much more than throwing 20M at Jonathan Allen, where you are paying for past performance and potential of him returning to that level.

if monti thinks he can win while trading back and without free agency - monti won't last
i'll give monti credit - sweat and tomlinson can make an impact on defense - rallis is rewarded - gannon is reunited - monti now gets a good grade on free agency defensive upgrades - at key positions too - consider me "satisfied"
