There’s just no way Monty/JG wanted to cut Carter. Something stinks upstairs.

Why do you say that, he was always 3rd or 4th on the depth chart.

The writing was clearly on the wall, even though it looks wrong to me.

Cutting Carter keeping Emari Demercado saves $1.8 million againstthe cap, but also give 3 more years of control. Carter was a FA after this season and they didn't have future plans for him. It's as simple as that. Benson/Demercado are the future after Conner is gone.

Who cares if we control Demercado, there is absolutely nothing special about him.

Barnes and Carter both didn't play in week 3 of the preseason. I thought that Carter would be shopped around and it sounds like he was. I thought that they would still keep him if no one bit. I guess not.

Barnes is a bit surprising as well. Maybe they think that they can slip Barnes onto the PS easier than one of the guys that they kept?

I understand the frustration of cutting Carter, but getting frustrated keeping Emari over him just shows me you don’t value pass blocking enough & unpredictability.

I also said this in another thread recently, but Emari was dealt a heavy hand having to work with Dobbs as his QB most of the year while playing against more legit defenses with Carter luckily avoided playing with Dobbs & less legit defenses.

Keeping Tonga as DL over Barnes at ILB is a little surprising too. I wonder if Luketa sees time inside.

I didn't say he was special. Just my assumption on the decision. It appears that getting a guy like Carter off the streets wouldn't be difficult. I was vocal in preferring Carter over Demercado. Someone just mentioned this was a money move and I don't see it that way.

I think it is clear that the Cardinals are trying to protect their young DBs right now. Just trying to get them through the first round of cuts so that they can hopefully stash them on the PS later.

I think they all are safe tbh. Colon is the reason you can keep Adams. Jones is a 3rd round guy who would likely get picked up and would be a terrible look, and Hall looked really good.
