There were times in Summer League, where Dunn and Ighodaro were on the court at the same time, and one of them would make a defensive play. About 50% of the time we were guessing the wrong guy made the play. Dunn looks "bigger" than the 6'8", and maybe that's not so much height as it was his bulk. Dunn and Oso looked similar from the far angles they were sometimes showing the court in Summer League. He's not a stick. He will have to get stronger, but he's got a good physical base to build on.

I like that Dunn has a long wing span, athletic and uses that athleticism to stay in front of offensive players. He makes stops, steals and block shots.

He is VERY patient on defense. He doesn't jump early. He stays down on dribblers and lets them go through all their moves, and waits until they are in the shooting motion to attempt a block. IF you watch his highlights, he patiently stays in front of guys and doesn't try and reach or push the offensive players. This style of defense will translate VERY well to the NBA. He's not using his hands at all to stay with the defender.

And Dunn is not afraid to use his chest on defense. Now all we need is for him is to turn into another Dennis Rodman.

I have never gambled before but recently saw that the sports books here in Austria are offering +3100 for the Suns to win the title. Isn't that a bit high? Like I said I have no experience in sports betting and I am also not very informed about what has happened around the NBA in the Offseason but was thinking about placing a small bet... even if it is just to justify for myself the costs of streaming the Suns games hehe.

You'd have to think that the Suns have better than a 3% chance of winning the title. I don't, but it doesn't look like a horrible bet to me. If it's going to add entertainment value for you, I'd say go for it.

I think obviously we got guys to help with those turn over numbers that have plagued us for many seasons now, and we got a few defenders, too. The rebounders, I guess Plumlee is about our best upgrade for that. We still are short on rebounding, imho.

Agree, the Suns are short on rebounders, wing defense and at center where more ability would help.

The pieces might be there, but I think the Suns presently need to add a 4/5.

Just thinking out loud, but I wonder if the Suns would consider signing Frank Kaminsky for the veteran minimum or someone else for the 15th roster spot and then consider waiving a player if a better fit came along in a trade that could improve the team. No doubt, it would be costly.

It's possible the Suns wouldn't have to waive a player if only one player came back in a trade and they keep Kaminsky too.

I think we'll see Okogie traded or waived before long. Notice how his name has been absent from conversations for some time. He's the odd man out on a tradeable contract.

You are right. I haven't heard much about Josh Okogie at all. If there were a trade, it would be nice to get a 2nd round pick out of it.

The Suns seem really high on Oso Ighodaro as a backup 5 but since he only has a push shot, I wonder if NBA defenders will simply leave him alone outside.

Gerald Bourguet writes another great article about individual Suns players.

Outside shooting is what worries me the most about the Suns drafted rookies, Ighodaro and Dunn.

By Gerald Bourguet at PHNX Suns Podcast:

That push shot is an effective tool, but also a necessary one, since Oso Ighodaro has no range outside of 12-15 feet from the basket. He took a grand total of two 3-pointers over his four years at Marquette and missed them both. At the NBA Draft Combine, out of 72 participants in the spot-up shooting drill, Ighodaro ranked 71st in percentage…with his Suns twin, Ryan Dunn, ranking 69th.

Why would anyone trade an asset for Okogie? If he’s traded it will involve our future 1st.

I think if the Suns entertain trading their first round pick, it will be a much bigger trade involving a larger salary.

However, I can see another team having interest in Okogie for maybe a second round pick if they suffer and injury and like him.

It's all in the eye of the beholder. The Suns upped his salary for a reason.

Another flaw in making Okogie more tradable theory is giving him a bigger contract.

Why would someone want him and his bigger contract if he’s not performing?

Maybe if a team is looking to dump salary halfway through the season.

That and he's not guaranteed beyond this season. So we might be able to get a 2nd rounder or two from him around the deadline.

You can't leave a guy alone that can pass like he can. That's where he is really deadly. If I was another team, I would want him to use the push shot. No way I want him making easy passes for assists. You have to play up on him. We have a lob threat at center now. Been missing that for awhile now.

Yeah, but you don't want five on four defense if Oso is left alone outside.

He's not going to be outside. His passing and setting screens are what he will be doing. He'll be rolling off the screens. He's a lob threat, plus he can dribble to set up the pass. He won't be stuck jacking up outside shots.
