Kyler Murray on the near-INT:"He hit me in the head. Thankfully they called a flag. I got to obviously protect the ball better but was just trying to make a play. Can't do that."

It's about picking your spots, we were up 13 we didn't need it just go down and punt. Josh Allen did the same thing in the buffalo game and threw a TD pass that came back on a penalty but when he threw it, there was a defender about to hit him, and then no other defender. When Kyler did it there was two guys that hit him and I think 2 more defenders. So completely different decisions there Allen knew if he didn't get the ball to his teammate it was going to land safely in the endzone, Kyler just flipped it up for grabs

I will say this, after NE scored to make it 23-10 Kyler made 2-3 nice subtle plays to extend the drive, a touch pass, a move to get someone open etc. After the dumb flip play and the hit to the head I was really nervous to put him back in the game and have him make another mistake and he didn't

Nice hold by the defense.
I said we were never threatened with an "L" today. Actually, that first NE drive with two guys going down on back to back plays, it felt like a bad day might be ahead of us.

After that, we really played well on defense until garbage time. Barnes did great stepping in for Wilson I thought.

BTW, I know number 0 is good, but he is getting Jalen Ramsey like respect from the officials already. I felt like if our guys tried to play that physical some flags would have flown.

Couple of things I saw.

D Rob had a MUCH bigger impact in the first half, he sort of dropped off in the 2nd half I assume he's still getting into true game shape, but in the first half he had several nice plays, made penetration. There was one play we I think got a sack on where he did a stunt and both blockers went with him and the other guy came free. It DOES seem teams clearly believe he can play, they aren't just doubling him for no reason.

I thought the new punter did a nice job there was a bad snap on a FG that he handled quite well.

And when Tune had to come in he actually looked like he knew what he was doing.

The bad, I still can't fathom why gannon took the 5 yard holding penalty instead of the catch to Marv? We lost 10 yards on the play and then another 10 on a hold on the next play so we gave up 20 yards of field position because he did that

Forgot, we caught 3 breaks in this game. The first play the bad snap that Conner jumped on. The First TD the fumble by Dortch that the OL recovered for a TD. and then the dumb play by Kyler coming back because of the penalty. I don't get why the ref guy said he didn't like the call it was a hit to the head, I don't think the he jumped thing should matter if you have a rule against hits to the head of the QB

I would add the int. We had luck on our side today and that was nice to see. Of course they say you make your own luck and player we're in position to make some plays today. I'll take it and offer no apologies for it

Like I said up 10-0, this one was over.

Team can beat the bad teams with no pressure on them. I guess that’s a step forward.

They move got somewhat of a litmus test next week… now that the game that does have a little more juice on it with Seattle losing. Can they beat another terrible team with something on the line to set up another legit Prove It game?

At least they’re giving us the chance for somewhat important football next week.

Thanks Russ! On the penalty, the throw to MHJ would have only given us a 3rd and short vs the automatic 1st from the penalty.

Right but it was 1 yard in 4 down territory and just didn't make sense to me to turn a 15 yard completion into a 5 yard penalty just for the first down.

But we won so all good

It was a 7 yards difference. I don't blame JG for taking the first down. I would have done the same thing. Third and two vs first and 10 for 7 yards.

He traded 4 yards for a 1st down. Most coaches are going to do that. 1st and 10 is better than 3rd and 1...and you don't really anticipate an incoming holding penalty...

If the holding penalty is guaranteed to come and he hadn't taken the first down we're looking at 3rd and 11....
You play the game as it comes but taking the free first down is almost always the right call

Of course you don't anticipate the hold but if it's 3rd and 1 you're probably going for it because you're near midfield with a new punter/holder against a team with a crappy offense so to me you're going to go on 4th down if you don't get it on 3rd. So you run on both downs/

By moving the ball back, that went away.

The announcer said the exact same thing in real time I don't get why they took the penalty

The announcer was an idiot who didn’t realize they got a first down with the penalty. I couldn’t believe he didn’t know that.

admittedly I had the sound low but I was pretty sure he knew they got a first down. He said a couple of times I'll take the extra yards with only 1 to go for the first down over the first down?

Game started 5:30am here so I was keeping the sound low so as not to wake anybody up so I may not have heard it clearly . I can't remember which drive it was so I don't recall if we scored on that drive or not.

So. Expect the Cards to be 8-7 after beating the Panthers next week. That leaves two conference games — at Rams and then at home against 49ers. Do we finish 9-8 or 10-7? I so hope it’s 10-7. The Rams game is pivotal, of course. You can’t get to 10-7 without getting to 9-7. What do you think?
DO NOT take the Panthers lightly. Yes, Dallas crushed them yesterday on the strength of 6 sacks 7 TFLs and a lot of pressure on Young. They also had 4 turnovers. We do not have the Dallas Dline and any player like Parsons on defense.

The Panthers are terrible and we should dismantle them just like the Pats.

We are a good team right now just not a great one. We will be favored in this game as well.

Their DLine isn’t good outside of Parsons….

But Parsons does matter a lot.

I was watching solo with normal sound. I don’t recall him saying that. And I was listening because I couldn’t believe he was stumping for 3rd down over 1st.
