Jimmy Butler is NOT a PF.This seems to be the pattern.
Jimmy Butler can play multiple positions, including power forward.

Suns have made their bed. Now they need to lay in it
The Phoenix Suns appear to be scrambling to fix their roster, but the damage has likely been done. They've got to roll with what they have.arizonasports.com
That was better competition - and to be honest I take close wins or losses to the worst in the league far harder than losses to teams that are better than us.we lost 8 out of 10 games before going nurkless - did you miss all that? did you block it all out? i would totally understand - ive tried too
Absolutely. There is no chance we are winning anything with KD as our best player.Trading for Butler and extending Durant wouldn’t extend the window, it’s already closed. This team will not win a title, they won’t contend for one, they are a borderline play in team.
Butler, another ISO mid range guy who misses huge chunks of the season and burns bridges with every team he plays for. Awesome.
I am sure it is true, and yes that alone would be pretty stupid, but it's going to get worse. That isn't enough to make the deal so they probably end up trading someone else like Tyus or Grayson for more picks to do that deal and screw us over with that super overpaid deteriorating malcontent.it would be dumbest move ever
Jimmy Butler is NOT a PF.
Saying Butler can't play power forward doesn't make it so.

He's not an ideal PF but he's more of a PF than KD is in terms of play style. Butler isn't afraid to mix it up inside. He was also the PF for the Heat most of his tenure here.
Fans shouldn't get hung up on position labels. They are almost meaningless.
However, it allows us to talk about what a player does on the court. A lot of players can play more than one position.
I agree to an extent. He's not the PF I'd like but starting him alongside KD, Booker, Tyus, and Richards would be fine. I'd prefer a more traditional PF who can also play small ball Center like a Dario Saric, Amare, Diaw type of player. I say those 3 because Suns fans should be familiar with them and they all brought different things to the table as well. Butler isn't a traditional PF but neither is Ryan Dunn yet here we are starting Dunn so quibbling over Butler's position doesn't make sense at this point.
All that said I'm not excited about the prospect of re-signing Butler to run with KD for the next 2 years though so I'd rather stay away from a deal for him that isn't a straight swap of KD for Butler, even if we don't receive picks in return. It would allow us to free up finances sooner and remove the tumor that is KD from this team. Even if Butler is extended I'd be in favor simply because he plays harder than KD and has been the leader on more successful teams as well. I think that would help right the ship here but we'd still be off course but to a lesser degree.
Yes, but then Dunn would be benched (unless Bud intends to go small with Jones/Booker/Butler/Dunn/Durant or perhaps Jones gets benched especially if he continues to be lost in scoring) and we sacrifice defense and hustle for another iso-heavy "star".Now if Beal could be traded for Butler, it makes more sense, because the Suns would get bigger.
Then consider it done.A Butler acquisition is clearly stupid.
You do not sign a 35 year old to a max multi year deal, unless they are a top 10 player all time. Butler is a fringe all star that has a much higher opinion of himself than is justified, which is why he ends up forcing himself off of every team in 2 to 3 years.
Butler is no great shooter, which means loss of athleticism due to age is going to hit his effectiveness much faster than someone like KD.
Beal even though he does not fit the Suns is a better asset, and you will not change my mind about it. The only reason a deal for Butler would make any sense is if it was a one year move, and then a salary dump.
