Official Thank You Kurt Warner Thread

Thank you, Kurt Warner, for producing the single best sports story of my lifetime.

    The onside kick

The only one I can think of that comes close was Rams-Jets in 2001. The Jets were getting great kickoff returns, Mike Martz yelled at special teams coach Bobby April about it, and April said they were getting the good returns because the Jets were already running downfield before the ball was...

    Whose ball?

Then the Packers punt on 4th down, and Warner throws 6 TD passes instead of 5.

Last play of regulation surprised me

Was anything said about the timeout Whisenhunt took at the start of that ill-fated last regulation drive? If they didn't blow that one, they'd have had a chance to run another play with a timeout in their pocket. It looked to me like Whiz wanted to make sure Warner knew how he was supposed to...

Final Play of the Game v. Packers on video

One of my favorite things about that play is how Dansby is still flapping his "wings" as he goes down to the ground on Campbell's tackle-hug.

    Thank You Kurt Warner

That's pretty jaw-dropping, actually. The rate stats, I'm not shocked about. But being 4th in TDs, with the other guys having had that many more opportunities to play? Jeez. That's a little crazy. Here's hoping he catches Favre this year!

    EJ Henderson

Yup. Those wacky doctors. A Minnesota article on Henderson from today. From the article: "Dr. David Thorson told the Pioneer Press on Monday that a fractured femur takes six to eight weeks to heal and that a patient can start running in eight to 12 weeks. Meanwhile, Thorson said, a patient...

If Warner has a hangnail, it's time for him to sit

Um... the Cards haven't clinched anything yet. And the #2 seed is still on the table. Talk of resting anybody is waaaaay premature right now.

    EJ Henderson

It's great that we have one of Davies's attending physicians here on the board.

    EJ Henderson

It depends entirely on how many complicating factors there are. Not all breaks are the same. Charlie Davies had a complete fracture of the femur in his car accident, and they're saying 6-12 months for him.

Game Thoughts: Titans 20 Cardinals 17

And here's me thinking that a team that doesn't turn the ball over is invincible. Seriously, Leinart didn't make big mistakes, and when they had to get more aggressive because they were behind again late, he delivered. But the ultra-conservative approach? Makes it hard to win when...

Bulger out 3-6 weeks following Cards game.

Uh... more than almost like a homecoming. Bulger was born in Pittsburgh and went to high school there. (Same school as Dan Marino.)

    1) About five minutes. 2) Not on the roster yet.

Boy was i wrong on this guy

Rams fans are very pleased with him, I can tell you. Despite the lousy record, I think most Rams fans are feeling a lot better about the direction of the team than we have in awhile.

Bulger out 3-6 weeks following Cards game.

I doubt the Giants would want to replace Carr with Bulger, but him becoming a Cardinal isn't exactly implausible. If the Cardinals decide to part ways with Leinart, and I certainly wouldn't want to bet against that, the Cardinals would need a good backup. (Assuming Warner returns for next...

    Warner could play Sunday...

As I recall, the first "minor" NFL one was week 17 against the Saints in 2000. Trent Green came in to finish the job, and the Rams got help to make the playoffs. Warner wasn't top-notch the next week, with 3 INTs to go with his 3 TDs, as the Rams fell to the Saints in the wild card round. He...

Bulger out 3-6 weeks following Cards game.

Yeah, he's done here. Now, I don't say he's completely done as an NFL QB. He's taken a ridiculous amount of abuse for the last several years, and given some time to recover, it wouldn't surprise to see him bounce back for a couple seasons in the right situation. The Rams should stick him on...

Is Kurt Warner the best QB in Cardinal History?

Dude, how did you forget Dan Marino, the only guy to get 40 twice? You mentioned him earlier in the post! ;)

    Kurt Warner

It's hard to get into Canton. Really damn hard. Guys who people thought were slam-dunk cases during their career struggle terribly to crack that top 7. Warner's got a lot of things going for him, obviously, but you've gotta deal with the two major points that will get brought up against...

    Kurt Warner

Regarding Warner's legacy and his time with the Rams vs. time with the Cardinals, there isn't any chance that either will overshadow the other. He will always be remembered as the guy who helped resuscitate two franchises. You can't do that without remembering both.
