Boy that sounds familiar.
Maybe a sub-par season with the Giants and then a joiner of the Big Red?
I doubt the Giants would want to replace Carr with Bulger, but him becoming a Cardinal isn't exactly implausible.
If the Cardinals decide to part ways with Leinart, and I certainly wouldn't want to bet against that, the Cardinals would need a good backup. (Assuming Warner returns for next season, and I firmly believe he will.)
Bulger, when playing well, has a number of Warner's strengths. He's very accurate, and he gets rid of the ball quickly. It's always nice to not have to completely change your approach if the backup comes in. Plus, he's always gotten along with Warner and doesn't have a huge ego. He collapsed over the last few seasons because the talent around him has been bad, particularly the line in front of him. Right now, his footwork isn't at all good. He used to be Warner's superior in mechanics. Not now.
I'm not saying that he's
going to recover. I do think there's a pretty decent chance. I'm also not saying that the Cardinals
should sign him if they get rid of Leinart, but it's an intriguing idea.
