    2023 Phoenix Suns Offseason

Yeah that's likely. I'll bet the under.

Uh, how often was that exactly? Maybe when he was the first one to come out for warm-ups?

    2023 Phoenix Suns Offseason

I really, really hope that the Suns aren't going to make force-feeding Ayton part of their gameplan. He's tentative and awkward, has bad hands, and instinctively moves away from the hoop rather than toward it. When he gets off to a good start, it's because the opposition is more focused on the...

    Not Investment Advice

Yeah T has been an absolute disaster. Glad I got out when I did, not that VZ, which I switched into, has been a whole lot better. My recent success story is EXPE, bought two months ago and up 25%. It ties in with my macro guess that people are going to gradually start wanting "experiences"...

    2023 Phoenix Suns Offseason

"Top 15"? Yeah, I'd sure hope so. Weren't they already top-5 last season, or at least close to that? A barely-better-than-average defense shouldn't be the aspiration.

Suns trade Cam Payne to the Spurs.

Payne had moments of brilliance, but overall he was too unreliable to be a rotation player for a team with championship aspirations. His game is too gimmicky and his fundamentals aren't very good.

Bring him back for the Finals, if they get there.

    Writer's Strike

As a Seinfeld fan, I can say that's not far off the mark. The Seinfeld team would find this hilarious. Too bad they couldn't make an episode about it.

    Most exciting offseason ever??

Ah, you meant just fans, got it. Doncic is extremely dislikable, so yes, I can believe that fans of other teams have a tendency to diminish his standing.

?? He's finished in the top eight of league MVP voting each of the last four years.

    The Market 2022-2023-2024

The S&P fell 16% in less than a month, less than a year ago. Another dip may well be coming soon, but I don't see how we can be considered overdue for one. Because, the longer the market goes without a big dip, the more we can be sure that there will eventually be a big dip? The market goes...

    Most exciting offseason ever??

Whew, that was a long read! I vastly underestimated what Doncic would be able to do on the offensive end. (Oddly, I thought he'd be okay defensively, which he isn't.) I have the excuse that NBA officials immediately decided to elevate Doncic to star status, which makes him very difficult to...

2023 in Season Tournament, The "NBA Cup"

It's really hard to imagine any established player caring about it. Young guys might, because the prize money is significant by their standards. But most players won't pay any attention to it.

high draft picks in Suns history

Updated to include Beal. Since someone always asks, these are high-drafted players who, at some point, were on the Suns. They are not (most of them) players that the Suns drafted. That would be a different list. #1 overall Joe Barry Carroll (drafted 1980) Danny Manning (1988) Shaquille O'Neal...

    Not Investment Advice

Since CDs are supposed to be conservative investments, I'd focus on the guaranteed dollar figure of appreciation. If you get one today with a nominal 5.55 APR and it's called on 9/23, you're walking away with maybe 1%. At the same time, you're assuming the risk of having your money trapped if...

    The Starting 5

I really like some of the new additions, but I wouldn't describe the Suns as being particularly deep. Having 15 employees that you can pencil into a depth chart is not the same as having depth. It will probably take a while to figure out who the real players are, but in the end I expect that...

    2023 Phoenix Suns Offseason

He's worth a look, but Collison has played a grand total of 37 minutes over the past three seasons, scoring four points and committing five fouls. Not very promising.

    2023 Phoenix Suns Offseason

So hypothetically the Nets could have paid $30-something million for players they wouldn't use, or zero for players they wouldn't use. Which do you think they would have preferred?
