Just FYI, Myles Turner's 13 ppg and 7 rpg is about the same as Hot Rod Williams' last season in Cleveland.

Bill Simmons started the ringer. Zach Lowe used to write for grantland before Simmons left and grantland disappeared.

    The Durant Sweepstakes

seems like the suns are sending Ayton to utah for a couple picks and then cam j, contracts and suns + jazz picks to brooklyn.

    The Durant Sweepstakes

If the Suns trade 4 first round picks and Ayton for Durant its a good trade. Even if the picks are high lottery picks the could end up being Len, Jackson, Bender and Chriss. Who has better odds of delivering a championship? Ayton + picks or one of the 20 best players ever who is still close to...

Who is the Hawks current version of Boris Diaw and pick that will become the 2027 version of Robin Lopez?

Robert Sarver is in Big Trouble (ANNOUNCES SALE PROCESS)

Lebron has been one of the worst GM's in the league for 15 years, I doubt he'd be a good team owner.

Agreed, his PER was one of the first main-streamed advanced metrics which is really flawed (Chuck Hayes was always in the top 10). However, in this instance he's reporting "insider" info and I guess he might still be considered an insider.

Peaked at what? Ten years ago he started working for the Grizzlies and stayed there for seven years.

Some arbitrary decision. Here's an interesting article about the legality of the eurostep. https://slate.com/culture/2019/04/nba-eurostep-travel-allen-iverson-crossover.html

Monty and Paul don’t like each other

Sorry to hear that you have a clearer memory of this than me. I do remember a big comeback one of the first two games being the highlight of the series in '94.

Monty and Paul don’t like each other

I don't think the Rockets were underdogs against the Suns in 1994 (they had home court advantage anyway). I guess the Suns might have been favored in 1995 since the Rockets were a 6th seed, but they were the defending champions. Feel free to correct me if I'm misremembering, it was a long time ago.

Monty and Paul don’t like each other

I remember hearing D'Antoni call Pat Burke "Tragic Johnson" after Burke had a good game which seemed kind of jerkish. Burke seemed insulted when reporters told him about the comment.

    Devin Booker

I agree. They aren't on the same level, 2x MVP vs. 1x all nba. As you seem to have surmised, I just wanted to illustrate how the public's perception of a player can change rather quickly.

    Devin Booker

How is it fair to say that? He almost was. Because he's lost two playoff series? I remember hearing the same thing about Giannis as recently as the series against Brooklyn last year. Now he's the consensus best player alive.

    The Ayton Plan

Paul is the outlier. Ayton doesn't have a 15 year track record of his teammates hating him.

    Devin Booker

Suns were underdogs against the Lakers last year and he scored 47 points in the close-out game. He's good.

This Team is About To Be Broken Up!

The Suns have never won a championship? I'm pretty sure they won a couple with Marbury or Llamas.

Ya, I think he lost a lot of money after his injury.

    The Ayton Plan

Ya, but you could quantify that observation with these types of stats. Instead of looking at the average value of the stat you could look at the variance. Not sure where such a stat exists, but it would be interesting to see if Ayton's variance is bigger than someone like Giannis.

    The Ayton Plan

That's what I would conclude, but I as Finito pointed out these stats aren't perfect and Crowder probably isn't the 6th best defender in the league. These stats measure how well a team plays defense when the player is on the court. The Suns defense was good as a team and I think its hard to...

    The Ayton Plan

    I looked up ESPN's DRPM (defensive real plus minus) 2019: I can't find it. 2020: 1.21 2021: 3.53 2022: 4.19 (40th in the NBA). Crowder is 5th, Paul is 22nd, Bridges is 23rd. According the bbal ref his defensive box plus minus is: 2019: -1.1 2020: -0.4 2021: 0.1 2022: 0.6 (49th in the NBA)...

    The Ayton Plan

Aside from field goal percentage his stats haven't changed in 4 years in the NBA. What do you think his stats will be 4 years from now? Best case I'd say he gets 20 ppg, 11 reb and 2 ast.
  24. Bufalay

    The Ayton Plan

You're right, I should be more precise. He is more efficient and can now dribble once before shooting, but he is qualitatively the same player with a ceiling on his offensive potential. He has no idea what to do when defenses focus on him. He has no idea how to draw contact or finish when being...

    The Ayton Plan

Can't believe there are still people mentioning Ayton's age. It's meaningless. He's the same player he was 3 years ago. He seems to be getting less comfortable holding the ball and drawing contact than he was as a rookie. Those issues put a massive ceiling on his offensive potential. His defense...
