Maybe letting Amare go wasn't such a bad idea

Amare broke down in the last year's playoffs too, again under DA. As the topic of thread is whether we should have retained him 2010, I just wanted to say that his condition was excellent for 2010 playoffs partly due to the fact that he played less minutes coming back from the eye surgery issue...

Maybe letting Amare go wasn't such a bad idea

Well, dumping Kurt Thomas and not playing him more minutes were a major mistake, that's ascribable to DA's philosophy of 7-men rotation. In all those playoffs, Nash could have been freshier and Raja/JJ might not have injured the way the did, had DA been willing to accept a slightly lower seed to...

    Anyone watching Jeremy Lin?

I didn't say 20/8. Someone else hoped it. But I'd tell you this. Nash in his 3rd year in the league had only shooting over Lin, and maybe a little better handle. So, if he averaged what Nash did with the same amount of experience, I'd be more than happy.:)

    Anyone watching Jeremy Lin?

Novak was putting up the numbers because of the space Lin created. Bad analogy. True. But he seems to have the tools to adjust to team's defensive adjustment. We'll see. OTH, he is already a better shooter than Kidd. He now seems have changed the shooting form of his college days, when his...

    Anyone watching Jeremy Lin?

Read the WSJ article I posted earlier this thread and listen to the commentators, you'll see that he has the fundamentals to be consistently performing at a very high level. Definitely not the type of one-hit-wonders who just has one wonder trick in the pocket for a couple of shining moments in...

    Anyone watching Jeremy Lin?

WSJ on Linsanity Harvard graduates have spent the last 300 years conquering the Manhattan job market. They've been doctors and lawyers and bankers and senators. One of them, however, did something this week that they've never managed to do before. He saved the Knicks' season. .Jeremy Lin, the...

Maybe letting Amare go wasn't such a bad idea

+1 It's quite sad that people often look at a player in an isolated situation and claim this and that. As you put it, the Suns have been quite close to winning a title a few times when Amare was here. We had the right core in Amare/Nash. But the surrounding conditions like bench, coaching...

    Anyone watching Jeremy Lin?

Lin's most quality is his court smarts with efficient moves on both offense and defense. His handle and lob passes, and particularly shooting, have quite some room for improvement. But he has the rare ability to keep the handle alive in traffic. He doesn't look very athletic or quick, but with...

    OT: Amare/Howard swap being discussed

One reason we never won anything with Nash all these years is that we tend to overuse him in regular season.

    Chandler to NY

I believe the point about Duncan always had a nominal C next to him is that TD could minimize the pounding at C over the the season and POs. When it counts, TD always defended whatever came to him. In contrast, Suns intentionally put the physically less robust Amare under this extra pounding...

Steve Kerr admits Kurt Thomas trade was horrible

    1. The KT dump was mainly Sarver + DA. As DA would only give Kurt a marginal role due to his philosophy, and unwilling to accept the critiques that he used KT too late in the dubious WCF defeat to Spurs the previous season, Kerr had to follow Sarver's saving order to dump him. 2. Shaq was an OK...

2011 NBA FINALS: Dallas Mavericks Vs Miami Heat

Congratulations to the Mavs! They deserved it with a real team performance throughout the playoffs under great coaching.

2011 NBA FINALS: Dallas Mavericks Vs Miami Heat

Eh, it seems my English has abandoned me some. Now, here it is again: I prefer Wade+Amare to LBJ + Amare. Also hypothetically, I prefer Paul/Amare to LBJ/Bosh. As to defense, Dirk has never been viewed as a better defender than Amare. So, it's really more a coaching and roster issue.

2011 NBA FINALS: Dallas Mavericks Vs Miami Heat

LBJ is the best all-around player. However, if you have the choice of a tandem of stars to build a champion team around, I'd not say LJB + player A is better than Wade + player A, say player A being Bosh or Amare.

    2011 NBA Playoffs Thread

Wow, just WOWOW! Dirk was clutch and hit all these shots being fouled 3-4 times for each score! But, Marion and Kidd defense was equally crucial. And Thunders paid their price for lack of experience. Particularly, Westbrook needs a lot of maturation to do. Seeing how Marion now matured as a...

    2011 NBA Playoffs Thread

I think we are in agreement. Not saying Dirk was always soft in the past at all. But Mavs have been the team, when you beat Dirk you beat the team. With time, he has been dealt all kind of defensive plans against and now became unfazed whatsoever. Sure, it's also crucial that the whole team is...

    2011 NBA Playoffs Thread

I think Dirk has really truly matured as a superstar this year. He's paid his due over the year, having let the likes of Marion, Bowen, Haslem getting on his nerves in the past playoffs after Nash left. Too bad we Suns fans don't have a chance to see whether Amare would have matured as the...

eh, they were successful with that strategy against the Suns last year? too bad Dirk is a better passer and much much more experienced dealing with double- and triple-teamings than Amare was.

Nash when healthy is still incredible.

    Melo officially a Knick!

however, with Amare's great offball moves and Billups a true PG, the NY's 'big-3' mesh a lot better than Heat's. Come playoffs time, Magics and Bulls have no real chance beating either Knicks or Heat, IMHO.
